    BARF

I owne 2 Border collies, ages 3 and 7. I just started feeding raw food to them 4 weeks ago and it is amazing the difference in their attitudes, coat and general over all health. They are actually excited about eating. I would however recommend grinding the bones just to avoid any possible accidents of getting the bones lodged in their throats or worse. My 7yr old is beginning to return to the playful and lovable dog I remembered. It's great to see. I fix a huge batch(3-4days worth) at one time and this makes it easy to feed quickly when they are hungry.

NATURE doesn't COOK! Great book for animals!

You can feel the gratitude, deep gratitude from an animal when you give them raw food. They aren't just pleased for a treat to stimulate their taste buds, or a bowl of kibble to satisfy their craving for nutrients, they are as grateful to you as we all are to the higher power that beats our hearts and gives us life. You should see the 'thank you' in their eyes when you give them raw food. You are giving your animals what they really want, what their body wants, and has wanted, for millions of years. Raw animal food. Not something heat processed in a lab with sub-standard grains and meats in order to make some greedy corporation rich beyond need. This book is great for teaching anyone how to feed their beloved animal companions the closest thing to a natural diet! When we got our cat a few years ago we transitioned her to a raw diet immediately, cold turkey, from the dried kibble she got at the humane society. She loved it, and within days began a radical transformation. Her coat became more beautiful, her energy skyrocketed, she started running all over the house, playing all the time. No more lazy cat. She's beautiful, no hair problems, odor problems, health problems, she's lean. She's pure natural beauty, like you would find in the wild. I started her on the diet after eating raw myself for a few years years. It works on humans too! I'm now buying copies for x-mas presents (for the animals, but they can't read, so... gifts for people!)

Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats: The Ultimate Diet

This book is full of easy to understand information on the natural raw diet and how to implement it in your dogs diet. The key word is RAW! Raw bones of any type, especially chicken and turkey necks and backs, are good nutrition for dogs. As long as bones are raw they cannot splinter, they are soft and the way that they were meant to provide nutrition for animals. My dog has been on this diet for almost a year now with excellent results. I can't imagine going back to kibble.

Worth reading for raw food diet for dogs

Other web sites wanted over $14.00 for this book. Worth reading if you are interested in starting a raw food diet for your dog. Learned a lot from her and her journey to health.

Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats: The Ultimate Diet

The key word is RAW. This book is full of good, easy to understand information, on feeding your animal a raw diet. All bones including chicken bones are totally safe as long as they are raw and not cooked. Raw bones will not splinter! I have fed my dog this diet almost a year now and she is thriving on it. People are always asking me what I feed her because her coat is so beautiful!

    A good starter book

This book is an ok start in that it's short and easy to read in a couple of hours and will get you started feeding raw, help you get comfortable with it. However, I found the book and the diet to be a little lacking compared to some other more comprensive books on the subject. It also contradicts much of the other information I've read (that's the hardest part about all this is sifting through the contradictory advice and opinions and choosing how you will proceed). I recommend reading this book first, then moving to Ian Billinghurst and Dr. Pitcairn for a more complete set of information. I guess I feel a little more confident taking advice from someone who has a vet degree, but Kymythy seems fairly well versed on nutrition. My animals are giving a thumbs up to the raw diet though, and I can see many positive changes in their health, as well as their enthusiasm for dinner.

Schultz turned my 14 year old dogs into puppys again!

My two dogs had been on a natural diet for two years before switching to a raw diet. (I realized that dogs don't naturally cook their food!) One dog was on cortisone for 10 years. She still had ear infections and a yeasty smell. She also 'leaked' whenever she slept. After 5 months on the raw diet -- no more ear infections and no more leakage! She is getting her hearing back and is regaining the original color of her coat. The other dog was picky with her food, but now she barks for dinner! Both dogs have clean teeth. Even my vet is impressed.

The Best Place To Start For Feeding Raw

Kymythy's book makes sense out of a topic that can be overwhelming to beginners. Do your dog a favor and feed raw!! Within 2 weeks of switching my dogs over, I saw dramatic results with a health condition, the shine of their coats, and their enthusiasm for eating. It's fun to watch them eat as nature would have them eat, as ripping and shredding and crunching is an exercise in itself. I have no doubts it is contributing to the quality of their lives. Feel free to contact me for other suggestions related to feeding Bones And Raw Food (BARF).

    Dogs evolved on raw food

Dogs did not evolve on kibble. Commercial dog food has only been made for 60 years. This book gives you straight forward information on how to feed your dog naturally. It's easy and my dogs glow.

    The Ultimate in Books!

The Ultimate Diet is a wonderful book for those just switching to a raw diet for their dogs. It includes sample menus, and plenty of information on why to feed a raw diet. Having fed my 4 show dogs this diet for over 18 months I can say there is nothing compared to the health of a raw fed dog!

A Great Start To Feeding A Natural Diet

This book is very easy for anyone to understand. Having some amount guidelines and menu samples to follow makes the transition from kibble to raw a less daunting task. ANY bones, as long as they are fed RAW and not cooked, are safe (try bending a bone yourself and see the ease!) and are a healthier alternative to all the chemicals we feed today.

    Excellent easy to follow book

I found this book extremely helpful when I first started feeding my dogs a raw diet. The Author's information is easy to follow and simple to understand. Very good book for people that need a bit more structure to follow than some of the other raw diet books offer.

My Dog Loves the Ultimate Diet!

This book helped me make the switch from feeding my dog kibble to an all natural, all raw diet. It is an easy read, very informative and it even has a month's worth of sample meal plans to help you start. I switched to raw because even though my dog was fed a premium kibble for allergic dogs he was still having terrible skin problems. His new diet has virtually eliminated his skin conditions. And yes he (my little Shih Tzu) does eat RAW chicken bones and meat with no problems and he loves it! So I'm happy that he's not constantly scratching and my dog loves that he gets REAL food to eat!

    Chicken bones can kill

$300.00 + dollars of Vet bills and one very sick dog later I concluded chicken bones can kill your dog. X-rays taken revealed the splintered chicken bones in my dachshunds stomach. Lucky for the both of us we were able to avoid surgery. Do not believe every thing you read. The 'Ultimate Diet' should not include raw chicken with bones. Follow your own gut feelings about what you are feeding to your dog. This book has some good ideas but a little lacking in common sense, bones do splinter!
