Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
More than just a visitor's guide to some of America's most spectacular natural wonders, this handsome volume serves as both an introduction to conservation of natural resources and an ecologically minded tourist's handbook. The first few sections of the book deal with how to cope in the great outdoors; backpacking tips, survival hints, and ecoreading suggestions are included. The second half covers many (but not all) of America's national parks, lakeshores, and forests. The photographs are of the usual Time-Life outstanding quality, and a helpful thumbnail sketch of each location helps readers understand it better. A highly recommended selection for all public libraries, especially those with a conservation-minded clientele.-Joseph L. Carlson, Vandenberg Air Force Base Lib., Cal.
