The national bestselling author of Royal Blood whisks her heroine away to the French Riviera for fun-and danger.
Lady Georgiana Rannoch has once again been called into service by Her Majesty the Queen. This time she's sent to Nice on a secret assignment that's nothing to sneeze at-recover the Queen's stolen snuff box.
As much of an honor as it is to be trusted by Her Majesty, an even greater honor awaits Georgie in Nice-as Coco Chanel herself asks Georgie to model her latest fashion. But when a necklace belonging to the Queen is stolen on the catwalk, Georgie has to find two priceless items-and solve a murder. How's a girl to find any time to go to the casino?
Winner of the 2011 Agatha Award for Best Historical Novel
In 1933 in spite of being 34th in the queue to the throne, Lady Georgiana Rannoch is impoverished. She works in a London soup kitchen where she can save money an get some free meals.
The Queen temporarily saves her from more terrible tasting food by assigning her an all expense paid trip to the French Riviera. Her mission is to retrieve a snuff box stolen by nasty Sir Toby Groper. In France, while riding the rails, Rannoch meets the legend Coco Chanel, who shocks the pauper when she asks her to model a new line of clothing when they arrive in Nice. While doing her royal assignment and modeling for Coco Chanel, Georgina investigates whether her lover Darcy O'Mara is cheating on her. However, her efforts merge when she is caught in the middle of a homicide and the royal necklace is lifted.
The latest endearing jocular Royal Spyness amateur sleuth (see Royal Blood) is a delightful Depression Era French Riviera romp. The heroine is a charmer as she fumbles and bungles her investigation while strutting on the catwalk. Coco Chanel adds to the fun as number 34 using the Queen's money (she hopes) acts Naughty in Nice.

Tough economic times are not new, and even folks related to the Queen (and King in this instance) sometimes have a hard time getting by. But, imagination, grit, manners and a good sense of humor work well, no matter what the circumstances.

This is a very good book to relax with. Rhys Bowen is very good with historical facts, and the story line just keeps the pages turning.

Georgie, once again, finds trouble -- this time with a view, in Nice. With the usual colorful characters, this one is not to be missed. Read and enjoy "Naughty in Nice" and then read the first four books in the series...you'll love them all. (Paulette in Peoria, AZ)

Another engaging adventure with Georgina. Although the stakes are high the tension is understated wth this outing. I am looking forward to more in this series, although I could wish for more character development. Georgina seems much the same as she did when we first met her.

Georgie's brother and sister-in-law leaver her behind as they head off to the Riviera to escape the dreariness of London. When the Queen asks her to go there to find out who stole one of her prized snuffboxes, Georgie is ecstatic.
It looks like she will be forced to avoid Fig's obnoxious brother-in-law and sleep in the library. Imagine her surprise when she finds her mother owns a villa there. Now, Georgie is living the high life. Until one of the Queen's necklaces is stolen while Georgie was wearing it and the man accused of stealing the snuffbox turns up dead.
Georgie will have to investigate the death to keep herself out of jail.
