I, Shana Berrie, am my sister's official navy "parenting plan." That means I'm in charge of adorable Jazmine until my sis returns. But—surprise!—nine-year-olds have lots of opinions, including ones on my love life (or lack thereof ). Now she's trying to set me up with our family friend, Adam Kennedy. Excuse me—Lieutenant Commander Adam Kennedy.

Excuse me—Lieutenant Commander Adam Kennedy. So he's great looking and very helpful (if dictatorial), but I am not in the market for a navy husband.

Shana Berrie has been betrayed and she's sworn off men altogether but with the help of her nine-year-old niece and the love of Lieutenant Commander Adam Kennedy, can she learn to love again? This is the first book I've read of New York Times Bestselling Author Debbie Macomber and I was definitely expecting to give her a 5 star review but alas, I cannot. I liked all the characters, but I found watching the love story unfold mostly through email a gimmick I quickly grew weary of. The relationships took forever to get off the ground, then bam! we were just in there. Most of the story was telling and often I didn't know where the character was and would be jarred to discover the person is driving on in the kitchen, etc. That's a mistake for the newer writer. I was really disappointed given the author and her experience.

An older book from Debbie Macomber that proves what a good storyteller she is.

Ms. Macomber has done a great job of putting together several books of life and romance, love, dedication while still doing the honorable duty of serving our nation. Navy Husband is one of several within the "Navy" theme she has used and it warms even the coldest of hearts. Great read and adds a positive attitude to love and romance and the "happy ever after" in life.
