I first read this book and Thomasma's other books in 4th grade, and in the 13+ years since then have continued to love them; full of adventure, history, and amazing spirit. I recommend this book for all children, teens, and even adults looking for an inspiring read.

The story brought this young girls struggles to life! It blends history with geography teaching lessons for life in each chapter. Our family bought the book on tape for a trip and each member enjoyed it. A great summer read for education and fun!
