Meet the Author

Ken Thomasma founded Grandview Publishing - a Jackson Hole-based publishing company - in 1987. Grandview Publishing carries all nine books in the Amazing Indian Children Series, in addition to a non-fiction title and books on CD.

The first book in the Amazing Indian Children Series, Naya Nuki: Girl Who Ran was published in 1983, followed by Soun Tetoken: Nez Perce Boy Tames a Stallion in 1984. Two years later, in 1986, Ken completed Om-Kas-Toe: Blackfeet Twin Captures an Elkdog. Kunu: Winnebago Boy Escapes was published in 1989, followed by Pathki Nana: Kootenai Girl Solves a Mystery in 1991. Three years later, in 1994, Ken completed Moho Wat: Sheepeater Boy Attempts a Rescue and the next year published Amee-nah: Zuni Boy Runs the Race of His Life. 1n 1999 Doe Sia: Bannock Girl and the Handcart Pioneers was published. The most recent book in the series, Takini: Lakota Boy Alerts Sitting Bull, was published in 2003.

Ken's popular non-fiction book, The Truth About Sacajawea, was published in 1997.

Ken lives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with his wife, Barbara.

    Tuching

    Naia nucki is one of my faviort books beacuse of how tuching it is so i'll tell you what happens she is a shone who when there camp gets invated naia nucki and sajuieea get tooken as slaves in another inden camp and they have to do all there work for them like going down to the streams or rivers and get the water for them and scrap buflao hids.Then one day the get set to people who they have the most work so the slaves well be treated like slaves and naia nucie gets set to cheafs mom so she had to be a hard worker and do what she is told but if she tried to exape surtenly death would come quickly beacuse they had gards sranding the camp sight so no esape happen at frist but she esapes and runs over 1,000 miles over canada and montana and gets back to her people.

    Love This Series

    I first read this book and Thomasma's other books in 4th grade, and in the 13+ years since then have continued to love them; full of adventure, history, and amazing spirit. I recommend this book for all children, teens, and even adults looking for an inspiring read.

    Wonderful And Insperational

    I think this book is amazing. It glues you in to a seres of emotions. I remember crying of excitment and dread when reading Naya Nuki. Please give this amazing and insperational book a chance, It WILL be worth it!:)

    I Finally Found it!!!!

    I have been looking for this book forever and could not remember the name by heart so i kept searching i have loved this book since i was in elementary and i'm so glad i finally found it yay!!

    I loved this book!

    I read this book when I was elementury school and am now in college. I remember reading this and loving every second of it. I have been looking for it for a long time and have finally found it!

    History on a childs level!

    The story brought this young girls struggles to life! It blends history with geography teaching lessons for life in each chapter. Our family bought the book on tape for a trip and each member enjoyed it. A great summer read for education and fun!
