School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 5-10-Up-to-date series titles covering championship games. After a short introduction to the NBA and its finals, each chapter in the first book focuses on a decade of games from the 1950s through "2000 and Beyond" (i.e., 2003). Year-by-year descriptions of each series' games and players are offered. Shaded game boxes note team wins and a Best Player or MVP of the series. Sidebars highlight one or more teams of each decade. World Cup provides an overview of the international tournament that occurs every four years. Championship entries begin with the 1930 games and end with the 2002 playoff between the South Korean and Japanese teams. Each entry includes a profile of a player and a scorebox noting the winning team, the runner up, and the best player. In both titles, there are plenty of appealing, glossy action photos. These titles will be useful for reports and are sure to be hits with sports fans.-Kim Carlson, Monticello High School, IA Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
