Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
Reviewer: Valerie L. Ng, PhD MD(Alameda County Medical Center/Highland Hospital)
Description: This is the fourth edition of a compilation of practice test questions for the National Certification Agency (NCA) for Clinical Laboratory Sciences - Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and Clinical Laboratory Technicians (CLT).
Purpose: The purpose of this book is to provide a review in exam-like format for those anticipating taking the CLS or CLT certification exam.
Audience: This book is ideal for CLS or CLT students at any point in their training, and especially for those about to take their certification exam. Some of the material might also be useful for laboratory medicine residents to review prior to sitting for their pathology board certification exam.
Features: This paperback book consists of seven chapters. The first six contain questions relevant to the traditional disciplines of a clinical laboratory (chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, microbiology, immunology, laboratory practice). The review questions presented in these first six chapters have the answers immediately following each question, complete with a concise discussion of relevant issues and referenced with the relevant pages in the referenced material. The final chapter has two separate practice exams - one consisting of 285 questions and the other 306 - both integrating diverse topics and providing a comprehensive review. Finally, the book comes with a CD-ROM containing an additional 500 practice questions. Anyone who has the fortitude to go through all these practice questions should certainly be well prepared for their certification exam!
Assessment: I would highly recommend this book to anyone preparing to take the CLS or CLT certification exam.
From The Critics
This book/CD-ROM package prepares readers for Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) and Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification and re-certification examinations. It explains the examination content, format, and scoring method, reviews test-taking strategies, and provides practice tests with explained answers. This fourth edition features updated questions and answers reflecting the most recent NCA exams and current entry-level practices. The CD-ROM contains 500 practice questions, allowing users to generate CLT and CLS exams. There is no subject index. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)

    NCA Review for Clinical Lab

I have the third edition of this book, and I find it more helpful than the ASCP examination book!! I am studying to take exams for the early part of next year, and feel I will be well equipped, when I take the exam. I love that there is not just a correct answer, but the reason for the answer, and why the other choices were not correct. Get it, you won't be sorry.

    Great Study Guide

This a great study guide for students preparing for the Board of Registry Exam for Medical Technologists. The questions in the book cover all areas and include explanations with the correct answers. The CD-ROM contains over 500 additional questions, but no explanations. Complete the questions in the book before attempting the questions in the CD-ROM.

    Short and sweet

Good multiple choice questions available in this book . I'll advise the author to increase 500 more questions in this book. I just gave my MLT exam today itself and the book was helpful. But please increase the questions...please Purchase it not tomorrow but today itself
