Buy This CD Now, You Won't Regret It!

I think, after listening to Quartetto Gelato¿s new CD, Neapolitan Café, that they could, single-handedly, introduce entire generations to classical music. Neapolitan Café CD is a wonderful mix of new and old songs, including Lolita, Volare, Words That I Want (written by the quartet¿s George Meanwell), and Rondine al Nido. If I had to choose one favorite from the CD, I would be hard pressed. Volare, and Peter De Sotto¿s marvelous voice, made me want to go out and buy every Vic Damone, Frank Sinatra, and Julius LaRosa album available. The Clown of Venice showcases the quartet¿s musical artistry and Joseph Macerollo¿s abilities as an accordion virtuoso, and I found myself listening to every note Cynthia Steljes played on the oboe in Ave Maria. Listening to Neapolitan Café, I was transported back to Italy to the time when I spent an afternoon sitting at a café in Sorrento sipping cappuccino and watching passersby go about their business while I listened to the proprietor sing arias from Italian operas. It was a day I hadn¿t thought about for several years, and I have Quartetto Gelato to thank for stimulating those memories with their fine music. The quartet, Cynthia Steljes (oboe, English horn), Peter De Sotto (tenor, violin, mandolin), Joseph Macerollo (accordions), and George Meanwell (cello, guitar, mandolin) has been together since 1994 and has toured the world over. Go on, buy the CD and sit down with a freshly brewed cappuccino and be transported back to Italy.
