A Thriller That Won’t Let Go

Gino Cataldi is a man hanging on by a thread. Cancer took his wife, and drugs put his son in rehab. All he has left is his badge.

When a teenage girl is kidnapped it brings back nightmares from the worst case he ever worked—the one that tore his life to shreds and forced him out of Philadelphia.

Gino doesn't want this case but he knows he has to take it. Not just to save the girl, but to earn redemption for what went wrong in Philly.

What do you do when you’ve lost everything?

Gino—a cop who pushes the limits of the law…
Lonny—a good man struggling to feed his family…
Scott—a biotech executive who has everything a man could want…
A band of ruthless kidnappers…
They all come together in a thriller you won’t be able to forget.

Everyone has decisions to make. This one could cost Gino his badge—and a young girl her life.

    He did it Again!

Giacomo did it again and didn't disappoint with another great read. He kept me guessing throughout and it wasn’t until the very end that things were fully revealed. Looking forward to new additions to this series.

NECESSARY DECISIONS is the absolute best yet from Giammatteo. I started reading at 3 PM and did not stop till 4 AM. It is intriguing, riveting and full of surprises. I really like Detective Gino Cataldi. He is strong, believable, and full of passion for his job. You just cannot put this book down!

Necessary Decisions, by Giacomo Giammatteo, is part of the Redemption Series, featuring Detective Gino Cataldi. The story opens with a robbery at a friendly poker game at which masked bandits, identifying one another only by numbers, rob the attendees of their money and jewelry. Included in their take is a watch Detective Cataldi wore, a watch given him by his wife in her dying days. Cataldi vows to find the culprits.

Necessary Decisions is a fast paced mystery that, while one of the Redemption Series, may be read separately of the others; the story line of the tales is not a continuing one. With bits of evidence coming in from all directions, readers are in the midst of the investigation as though it were happening in real time. Cataldi becomes more real as the pages turn. Giacomo Giammatteo holds readers spellbound as tension builds. Mystery readers will be happy to know that Necessary Decisions is one of a series as, when turning its final pages, they will find themselves begging for more.

Necessary Decisions, A Gino Cataldi Mystery, is a suspenseful page-turner that combines a kidnapping, a crime spree, a hard-working, middle class family, and the personal stories of several characters into one explosive story that is not easy to put down. Lonny Hackett finds himself out of employment after a lifetime of hard work, and he makes one bad decision that lands him in the middle of a crime ring and ultimately a kidnapping that hits too close to home. Gino Cataldi is the detective in charge of the kidnapping, and his own personal demons haunt him as he gets deeper and deeper into the case. As his life and the lives of Lonny and his family intertwine in ways that no one could have imagined, the intrigue gets deeper and deeper.

I normally do not read mysteries, but I decided to give Necessary Decisions a chance. I am really glad I did! This book is the definition of a page-turner. I was sucked into the story from the very first page, and I could not turn the pages fast enough. There were so many twists and turns that even if you're adept at figuring out whodunits, there are bound to be some surprises here. This is the first book I have read by Giacomo Giammatteo, but I am a fan. I cannot wait for the next book, and to see what Gino Cataldi will get himself into next!

If you enjoy a good mystery that keeps you guessing until almost to the end, then Necessary Decisions, A Gino Cataldi Mystery by Giacomo Giammatteo would be the right choice for you. Gino Cataldi, the main character, is an incredibly likable man with a tragic past. When he gets a new case, a kidnapping of a teenage girl, he is not very happy about it because even though his past kidnapping cases brought the victims home alive, the experiences still haunt him. When the father of the girl appears to be not very touched by the kidnapping, this only increases his negativity. However, Gino is determined to solve the case. Things soon start to go very wrong though, and the mystery becomes even stranger.

I started reading Necessary Decisions in the morning and was shocked when I looked at the clock after a few coffees just to realize it was already after 6 p.m. I finished the book on the same day, staying up longer than usual - it was just that good! Gino is a man women will simply like - he's just a perfect man in a way (apart from him not being real!). All the characters in the book are very well described and many are quite likeable. You get drawn into the story and live in it, and feel like you get to know the characters very well yourself. The writing is well done and keeps the attention of the reader. You simply have to read the next chapter, and then the next...
