Innocent...or guilty?

The cops think that Julianna Smith is a murderer. No one will listen when Julianna claims she's innocent, and as the suspicions mount against her, only Julianna knows the truth...a killer is hunting her. Somewhere in the darkness, a stalker is closing in and preparing to deliver a final justice that she can't escape.

He's her only option.

Devlin Shade isn't a man who trusts easily, and when Julianna Smith walks into VJS Protection, he's well aware of her reputation-the sexy blond could be a cold-blooded murderer. Only when he looks at her, cold is the last thing that Devlin feels. There's an instant attraction between them-hot, fierce, primal. And he agrees to take her case. He'll be her bodyguard. He'll keep her safe from the enemy hunting her, and he'll also find out the truth about the mysterious Julianna. If she is a killer, he'll turn her over to the cops himself.

She can't let him get too close...

Julianna knows that she is walking a dangerous line with Devlin. She never expected to want him so much, and as they grow closer, she realizes that he's working to uncover her secrets. But the secrets that she carries are worth killing for...and she can't let anyone discover the truth, not even Devlin.

Killer or victim...

Soon the thin line between right and wrong is blurred. For Devlin, the case becomes personal, and all that matters is Julianna-keeping her safe and stopping the stalker who is on her trail. As he slides deeper into Julianna's dangerous world, Devlin's own darkness rises up. He's played the good guy for so long, but now his mask is falling away. He isn't controlled, he isn't safe, and when Julianna is threatened, he will cross any line to keep her safe.

Ok losing interest in this series. Same story line over and over. Every heroine has a black van trying to run her down. Lacks originality and intrigue. Blah!

## LOVE LOVE Cynthia Eden. HOWEVER, this wasn't my favorite. I adored "Watch me" and "Want me", but had a bit of a hard time connecting with this one. Julie was so scared ALL the time so we didn't get to see any other character traits besides fear. And Dev was a little one dimensional for me. Don't get me wrong; still worth reading. Just not my fav.....

Need Me picks right up where Want Me (Book #2) ended. Devlin is part of VJS Protection and probably the quietest one of the guys. Devlin first meets Julianna in Want Me, but now she has come to VJS seeking protection. She is accused of killing her husband BUT someone is out to kill her and Devlin is automatically drawn to her and knows that she is his to protect. Neither Devlin nor Julianna trust each other in the beginning, but in the end all of the pieces fall in to place and lives are put in danger but you have got to read Need Me to see how it ends. At one point Julianna fires Devlin and then something happens and Devlin’s response was “I’m taking the damn case” because he knew something just wasn’t adding up and he believed in Julianna.

An Amazing Book Contemporary, Romantic Suspense Julianna Smith is believed to be a murderer, at least by the cops. She claims she is innocent but no one is listening to her claims and suspicion is mounting against her. Julianna is the only one that knows the truth about being hunted by a killer. Devlin Slade doesn’t trust easily. When Julianna walks into his security firm, VJS Protection, he knows about her reputation. A sexy blond that could easily be a cold-blooded murderer. Though when he looks at her cold isn’t what he is feeling. An attraction that is hot, fierce, primal and instant springs up between them. He agrees to be her bodyguard and keep her safe from the enemy that is hunting her. He is also determined to find out the truth about Julianna. If he finds out she is a killer he will personally hand her over to the cops. Julianna is walking a very dangerous line with Devlin and she knows it. She never expected to want him so badly or for them to get close. She soon realizes that he is working to uncover her secrets. Secrets that are worth killing for. She can’t let anyone discover them either not even Devlin. The thin line between right and wrong is soon blurred. Devlin soon finds the case becoming personal and that the only thing that matters is Julianna. Keeping her safe and stopping the stalker that is after her. The deeper into Julianna’s dangerous world that Devlin goes the more his own darkness rises. Now his mask is falling away even though he has always played the good guy. Devlin will cross any line he needs to so that Julianna is safe because he isn’t safe or controlled. This is third book in the series and proves to hold up just as well as the first two books. The suspense is woven so very well throughout the story that it keeps readers on the edge of their seats turning the pages just to see what will happen next and where this one is headed. The twists and turns in this story takes readers on an amazing ride that doesn’t stop until the very end. Readers will not want to put this one down until the very end and even then they will wish it wasn’t over yet. The book is action packed that starts at the beginning and doesn’t stop at all during the whole story. With each secret that is revealed it shows more yet to be discovered. Just as readers think they have it figured out another secret is discovered and the reader will be left guessing if they are on the right track or not. This one does not disappoint at all. Exciting! Hot & Gritty Romantic Thriller!  NEED ME (Dark Obsession, # 3) by Cynthia Eden February 22, 2015  Publisher: Hocus Pocus Publishing, Inc. 195 pages, approximately Romance: Contemporary, Suspense, Thriller, Military -- SYNOPSIS -- Innocent…or guilty? The cops think that Julianna Smith is a murderer. No one will listen when Julianna claims she’s innocent, and as the suspicions mount against her, only Julianna knows the truth…a killer is hunting her. Somewhere in the darkness, a stalker is closing in and preparing to deliver a final justice that she can’t escape. He’s her only option. Devlin Shade isn’t a man who trusts easily, and when Julianna Smith walks into VJS Protection, he’s well aware of her reputation—the sexy blond could be a cold-blooded murderer. Only when he looks at her, cold is the last thing that Devlin feels. There’s an instant attraction between them—hot, fierce, primal. And he agrees to take her case. He’ll be her bodyguard. He’ll keep her safe from the enemy hunting her, and he’ll also find out the truth about the mysterious Julianna. If she is a killer, he’ll turn her over to the cops himself.  She can’t let him get too close… Julianna knows that she is walking a dangerous line with Devlin. She never expected to want him so much, and as they grow closer, she realizes that he’s working to uncover her secrets. But the secrets that she carries are worth killing for…and she can’t let anyone discover the truth, not even Devlin. Killer or victim… Soon the thin line between right and wrong is blurred. He isn’t controlled, he isn’t safe, and when Julianna is threatened, he will cross any line to keep her safe. NEED ME.  Some needs can push you to the edge of sanity… -- MY THOUGHTS -- Devlin is the "S" in VJS Protection, in case you haven't already figured that out. Juliana is briefly introduced in WANT ME as a client of Sophie's. She was accused of murdering her husband. And now someone wants her dead. Hiring VJS, she's hoping to be kept alive until the true killer is uncovered and arrested. As always, Ms. Eden provides an exciting plot and easy-flowing story with fantastic characters, believable dialogue, natural interactions, and plenty of conflict (both internal and external), most of which were resolved in a timely and mature manner. I'm not sure if it's the fact that I've read this trilogy so closely together or just read enough of this suspense/mystery sub-genre, but I pinpointed one of the "baddies" immediately. The other one was not on my radar, in fact I was certain another person was neck-deep in it. There seems to always be an attempted vehicular homicide though, ha! At least no one's HOUSE blew up this time... just a car. When all the pieces are put together and presented about the night of the murder, I was not surprised  in the least at Juliana's part and/or lack thereof in it. So, predictability was about average, but that did not detract from the story. It was exciting and enjoyable. The conclusion was solid, but I'd hoped to see even a glimpse or hint that Ethan may get a book... I think with the revealed attachment, he'd make an interesting story. Two thumbs up to this series, I'd recommended to anyone that enjoys a good, gritty, romantic thriller!   ------------------------ Heat Level: 3.75 ------------------------ Score: 4.4 Stars: 4 ----------------------- -- ABOUT the AUTHOR -- Award-winning author Cynthia Eden writes dark tales of paranormal romance and romantic suspense. Need Me is the third and last volume in the Dark Obsession trilogy, featuring the owners of a bodyguards and investigations agency. Need Me begins exactly where Want Me ended. Indeed, the latter finished with a scene heralding the main plot in Need Me. Thus, in this last volume, our two heroes go on with their conversation. Julianna needs to be protected because she’s threatened. She’s a character the readers met in the previous volume and she was charged for her husband’s murder. Julianna had been married with him for two months before his death. The reader understands quickly that she endured domestic violence and it’s that relationship she’ll have to overcome in addition to search for the truth. The heroine’s recent past explains why the sex scenes are less numerous too even if there’s a lot of sexual tension between our heroes. Devlin Shade is the one who distrusts everything and everyone. In Want Me, he continuously warned Lex against his heroine Sophie. He’s really sure of himself when he signs a contract with Julianna when he’s very attracted to her. Devlin thinks he can’t fall prey to her, and if she’s guilty, he won’t have any trouble bring her to justice. I really liked how Cynthia Eden dealt with this facet of the relationship between our heroes. I wondered at several times what the hero would do. And when I had the answer, I was delighted. Likewise, I really liked the heroine’s reaction when she begins to sense the truth. According to me, she had a logical reaction. However it’s possible that some readers don’t appreciate it. The suspense side is very well dealt with by the author. And this time, even if I had an idea about the culprit, I was very surprised by some sudden twists. Regarding the secondary characters, we see again with pleasure the previous heroes, with a very active participation from Sophie, heroine of the second volume, as she’s Julianna’s lawyer. We also see a secondary character present in the first volume, Ethan, who turns out to be surprising anew here. However, knowing his regular problems, I confess his threats against other people make me laugh more than they frighten me. LOL A little drawback however regarding some repetitions of situations from the previous volumes. For series whose different volumes have long publication delays (several months between each volume) it’s sometime needed to remind of some events. For series where each story is published one month apart, it’s not at all needed. As a result, I had an excellent time with this novel which closes very well this trilogy I recommend.

I received an ARC of this book from the Publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. This is the third book in Eden's Dark Obsession series, and I have previously read and reviewed Watch Me and Want Me. We got to see Julianna and Devlin's first interactions at the end of Want Me, and it was fairly explosive. I was super excited to get the next book, and Cynthia Eden didn't let me down. The one thing that truly had me concerned while reading it was that we would not be getting Ethan's book. I get to the end and even through the excerpt for her next new series, a little disappointed and feeling let down. So let me reassure you, so you don't have to feel that way as I did. Ethan (the antagonist/anti-hero from the previous books) IS getting his own book, Beware of Me, and it should be releasing Spring/Summer 2015. So let's get down to the nitty gritty. Julianna is accused of murdering her husband, and all the evidence seems to point right toward her, but she maintains her innocence. She hires Devlin and V.S.J. to protect her and find out the truth of who is really after her. Devlin is yet another action character (and yes, I still think of all these men as Bruce Willis, which is I am sure NOT the author's intent, your mileage may vary, but these are action heroes more so than romance heroes). He just enough tragic back story and emotion to tip him out of alpha-hole caricature status, but really, it's all about the action, mystery, and smexy times. This story was particularly twisty, and while the twists weren't over the top ridiculous, they did really keep me engaged in the story. 3.5 stars from me. It requires a lot of willful suspension of disbelief as they are instantly attracted, the relationship spans a very short time, and by the end they are in love and completely devoted. This is par for the course for Eden's shorter romantic suspense, but they are just too fun and exciting to give up. I adore her books. This is my drug of choice and I can't wait for my next hit!

4 - "You started this... I'll finish it." Stars! Need Me pretty much takes off, where book two (Want Me) in Cynthia Eden's Dark Obsession Series left off. The somewhat elusive Devlin Shade, steps out of the shadows to help presumed guilty murderess Julianna Smith. This series hit the ground running from the start, and this installment keeps it going at a steady sprint, right from the first chapter. "I'm taking the d4mn case." As you would expect, nothing in relation to Julies' case is cut and dried, did she/or didn't she. The woman is hiding more secrets than an MI5 operative, but Dev like his predecessors Chance and Lex, and co owners of VJS Protection, Inc, isn't afraid to ask the questions and look for the answers, by any means necessary. Innocent people don't lie. They don't run.  The chemistry between the two of them is Eden-S3xy, and they don't waste anytime, burning up the stairs, sheets, etc!! As with the previous books, you get a huge case of 'insta-everything' between this couple. I didn't care, this is Cynthia Eden, I love her writing, her characters and her story-lines, and Need Me lives up to every expectation I have of her as an author. She delivers, time after time, the books are always hard to put down, the characters complex, all a little different and I fall in love with every one of them to some degree. "You do like your secrets, don't you." This book has the best ending, as Cynthia confirms that Ethan will be getting his own book Beware of Me due later in 2015. If you have read this series from the beginning, you will know who he is, and will most likely be itching to get his story as much as I now am! "Forgetting you won't be easy... No hope for that." ARC generously provided via Netgalley, in exchange for the above honest review.

Cynthia Eden’s third installment in the Dark Obsession Series, “Need Me” is another adrenaline pumping ride of suspense and passion as death stalks the shadows as love and trust get caught in the crossfire of a killer wanting to hide secrets. Julianna Smith is accused of murdering her abusive husband, a murder that she has no recollection of. With a trial looming in the horizon and all evidence pointing to her as the killer, Julianna is desperate for someone to believe in her and gets a friend and an attorney in the kick-ass attorney Sophie. With a feeling of being watched all the time and a fear for her life, Julianna ends up in the offices of VJS Protection seeking their services to protect her life. Devlin Shade has been drawn to Julianna since the first time he lays eyes on her, and he knows getting involved with an alleged murderer is not in his agenda. Walking a thin line between truth and lies, Devlin can’t keep his lust and passion for Julianna on a reign and all that matters to him is to keep her safe, at any cost, even if he has to enter her dangerous world where secrets are worth taking lives. As the line between right and wrong get blurred with love and need, Julianna and Devlin, test the power of their intense attraction. As they erase the boundaries between them, they set fire between the sheets, igniting a rage in the killer stalking Julianna. As secrets tear open and the killer gets closer to his goal, Julianna and Devlin need to trust each other with their lives to stay alive.  “Need Me” is a super charged passionate romantic suspense and Cynthia Eden keeps us on the edge of our seats with its many twists. Eden is a prowess at writing cutting edge thrillers with characters on the edge of obsession good or bad and an insane measure of love and lust that sees no boundaries. Reading it stand alone is great, but reading the first two in the series “Watch Me” (Book 1) and “Want Me” (Book 2)…..is pure pleasure of contentment! Received an ARC from Hocus Pocus Publishing Inc via NetGalley for an honest review.

Julianne is accused of killing her husband. She hires VJS to protect her, specifically Devlin. Someone is trying to kill her. As they try to figure out who really killed her husband, they must learn to trust each other. Riveting. Sexy. Surprises all the way to the end. Would highly recommend this book.
