Overview

Valerie McFadden, a third grade teacher, is committed to working on the teachers' negotiations team to improve salaries and working conditions for her fellow teachers. When she meets Douglas Cooper, the handsome owner of Family Tire Center, they both feel an instant attraction. But she soon discovers that Douglas is on the Board of Education's negotiating team.

Raising his orphaned nephew and niece, Douglas is concerned with the town's education and school issues. And since he was burned by a former girlfriend, he finds it hard to trust Valerie.

Valerie has her own former heartbreak to deal with. But as Valerie and Douglas spend time with his niece and nephew, by themselves, and across the negotiating table, their feelings grow.

But trouble is brewing in Valerie's class; negotiations are not going smoothly; and controversy arises when people realize Douglas and Valerie are seeing each other.

Will the two of them learn to listen to their hearts and negotiate the most important agreement of all...love?

Valerie McFadden is a dedicated teacher determined to negotiate a fair contract for her fellow teachers. Douglas Cooper is a school board member who believes the teacher union's demands are out of line. The very determined Ms. McFadden teaches Douglas Cooper a thing or two about negotiation and love. Through her he learns to open his mind to different points of view and to open his heart to love. Valerie believes in marriage and family. After her last broken relationship she will not waste time on a man who doesn't share her values. Douglas is raising his orphaned niece and nephew and believes he has all the family he needs. As they get to know each other they find that their goals aren't so different after all. Through an incident in her class, Valerie learns the value of negotiating. Her plan moves the contract negotiations forward. Douglas realizes what a smart, caring person she is. He wants her in his life. His family isn't complete without her. NEGOTIATING LOVE is filled with love, warmth, and has two of the most likeable characters I've ever read. The uplifting ending made me smile for days.
