Overview

Nerdy personal assistant Mitchell J. Carruthers has a problem. He's trapped in Porcupine, Alaska with a smorgasbord of wacky locals and Ally Jarrett, the heiress he's supposed to protect. Her unscrupulous uncle has promised to help launch Ally's photography career, but what he really wants is her fortune and he'll stop at nothing to get it.

Suspicious of the predatory woman her uncle brings in as a mentor, Mitchell tracks Ally's every move, even in the bedroom. With a blizzard raging outside, the heat turns up inside, and Mitchell's professional detachment cracks. He's determined to be the hero she needs, even if that means sacrificing his life...and his heart.

This book title might appear kind of goofy if you're just flipping through a row of books, but pick it up!! The story is intriguing, the characters are well developed, and overall is a fantastic book! Rainy days do not have to be so gloomy with this wonderful read!!

This is one of my favorites of the nerd series. It is a cute story about how two people fall in love even though they seem so different on paper.

The third book in Ms. Thompson's on-going NERD Series, NERD GONE WILD does everything but fail to disappoint. This book joins together another no-nonsense heroine in the form of spunky Ally Jarrett, a nerd-in-disguise hero, Mitchell Carruthers, and a set of chilly circumstances that's bound to heat up even the most jaded romance reader.

For Ally, there's only been on goal for as long as she can remember-head to Alaska, that glacial state where moose outnumber humans ten to one, and take photographs of the wildlife. So, her grandmother died and left her millions? That's nothing but a blip on her Alaska-trekking radar. So, she needs to sign about a million pages of paperwork to transfer deeds, settle estates, take charge of stocks? She can do that, if scrawling her name will get her on that plane to the wilderness faster. So, she has to deal with pencil-pushing, fashion-failure Mitchell to get all of her grandmother's affairs in order? It's a tough task, but if it will lead to escape in the freezing wilds of Alaska, she'll do what she needs to do.

She arrives in Porcupine, Alaska, free of social restraints and one wardrobe-challenged legal adviser, and she's finally free to embark on the adventures that Alaska has to offer. Sort of. That is, she would have been able to embark on adventures, if she hadn't been waylaid by Betsy, the proprietor of the Loose Moose lodge, on her way out the door with her camera. And if one Mitchell Carruthers, dressed in a gigantic orange parka that appeared to be the offspring of a mating between a giant emergency cone and a dreamsicle, hadn't shown up at the lodge just as she was attempting to leave. And, of course, if a blizzard roaring into town hadn't forced said fashion-disaster, geek in a suit, nerd with a pocket protector, to become the second guest at a lodge in the middle of nowhere.

Mitchell, of course, isn't just a card-carrying member of Nerds-R-Us. He's a private investigator and a bodyguard, masquerading as a simple assistant to Ally's late grandmother. He was hired to do much more than protect the financial assets of the Jarrett fortune-but he seems to be getting side-tracked by the very personal assets of one Miss Ally Jarrett. Too bad Ally can't do anything but shudder at his geek disguise every time she looks at him.

What follows is a hilarious romp through the Alaskan wilderness, some chilly days avoiding danger, and some hot, hot nights between the sheets. Kudos to Ms. Thompson for another great NERD book. I, for one, can't wait to see what comes next.

I had seen this book on the shelf for a couple months and never picked it up, because the main guy character was supposedly a 'nerd'. I like the men in the novels I read to be manly. I finally picked up the book and read the back, thinking, 'what the heck...why not!' I am so happy I picked this book up. It is sooooo funny. A laugh for every page. You feel like you really know the characters personally. And let me tell you Mitchell(main character) is definetly not nerdy!!!!

It is a great book. Funny, and captivating. It will make you wonder about nerds everywhere. I couldn't put it down and even had coworkers wondering what I was laughing about. I had a couple workers ask to borrow the book, wanting to find out why I couldn't get my nose out of it. They equally shared my enjoyment of it.

This book was one of the best i've read in a long time. I couldn't put it down literally, got through all 403 pages in two days (for me thats good). Of her books I've only read Nerd In Shining Armor, but I will get the rest, Vicki Lewis Thompson knows how to write a great book.

The first title just caught my attention. I read it and loved it. Then came the second and again I loved it. Nerd Gone Wild was just as great. Cannot wait for the fourth book. This story was fun, even with the deranged S & M characters. That part threw me for a loop. Keep them coming!

Following the death of her beloved grandmother who raised her, Ally Jarrett decides to live her dream. She leaves the relative warmth of Southern California to become a wildlife photographer in wintry Porcupine, Alaska. Not long afterward, her grandmother¿s nerdy personal assistant Mitchell Carruthers arrives with the pretext he needs her to sign estate documents................... Mitch is actually a private investigator bodyguard hired by Ally¿s grandmother to keep her safe from her Uncle Kurt. Because she knew Ally would reject a bodyguard, grandma got Mitch to pretend to be a nerd and obtained a deathbed pledge from him that he would keep her beloved safe. As Mitch and Ally fall in love, Kurt arrives with dominatrix girlfriend Vivian pretending to be a famous wildlife photographer for they have plans for the wealth that his stepmother left totally to his niece....................... The nerd series has not gone much wilder than this tale that seems to take two Los Angeles citizens and voluntarily places them amongst a rowdy crowd that must have escaped from Northern exposure. The story line is fun to follow as Mitch tries to ignore his desire and love for Ally who thinks he is pathetic until the first kiss. Vivian is an intriguing character though some readers will be turned off by the S&M bondage relationship between her and Kurt. Vicki Lewis Thompson takes nerds where they never gone before with this amusing North to Alaska tale................... Harriet Klausner
