Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"This book takes a targeted approach to teaching clinical anatomy as it pertains to the practice of medicine. Thebook does an amazing job of using the best images related to the pathologies discussed in each chapter. The review sections are amazing, allowing readers to test themselves and consolidate the information they've learned. This is a great study aid on the topic of gross anatomy, especially for medical students who are looking for supplemental information that normally would not be included in a standard textbook or atlas.-Michael Kim, MS, BA(Midwestern University) Doody Review: 87/100

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Michael Kim, MS, BA (Midwestern University)
Description: This is the third edition of a book that serves as a supplement for studying gross anatomy and a standalone text for comprehensive, in-depth clinical review and study for topics in clinical anatomy. The book was originally published in 2005.
Purpose: While an atlas is typically the standard resource for a visual study of anatomy, this book takes an alternative approach, organizing clinical medicine related to the different regions of the body and the anatomical structures involved in various pathologies and malformations. It provides a unique perspective, connecting anatomy to medicine, and emphasizes the importance of understanding structural relationships and the complications that can arise in the human body.
Audience: Medical students are the most appropriate audience, especially when reviewing for board exams, such as the USMLE or COMLEX. This is an invaluable resource, providing not only information, but also an extensive number of review questions and guides.
Features: In its unique approach, this book marries the detailed images from Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy, 6th edition (Elsevier, 2014) with clinical information. The chapters are still organized by regions of the body, but instead of just providing plates of images (such as in an atlas) or blocks of text and bolded information (like in anatomy textbook), this one presents a condensed version of the information in an elegant way that is not only to the point but is also visually easy to read and follow. Every section is organized in a coherent fashion, guiding readers through the various anatomical structures while including salient information regarding any common pathologies associated with certain structures or developmental abnormalities. Tables and charts throughout summarize important information and chapters end with a review section of 20 or so questions, each with an explanation. These questions are clinically based and mirror anatomy questions found on board exams.
Assessment: This book takes a targeted approach to teaching clinical anatomy as it pertains to the practice of medicine. While it may not include every plate found in a Netter atlas, the book does an amazing job of using the best images related to the pathologies discussed in each chapter. The review sections are amazing, allowing readers to test themselves and consolidate the information they've learned. This is a great study aid on the topic of gross anatomy, especially for medical students who are looking for supplemental information that normally would not be included in a standard textbook or atlas.

DO NOT BUY THIS AS A NOOK BOOK.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK as an eBook. The illustrations are too small to be useful and are not expandable. B&N will refuse to refund your money.

    I Also Recommend:

Good Resource of the Human Anatomy

This is a good anatomy resource. The only draw back is that I needed more of the lymphatic system to study and visualize. I like the "Atlas of the Human Anatomy" 5th edition by Netter. I has more of the Lymphatic system which I need in my studies
