Description: This book presents classic Frank Netter and Netter-style illustrations of thoracic and cardiac anatomy. The thoracic illustrations are presented in correlation with CT scan images which are shown in two windows, soft tissue and lung. The cardiac anatomy is presented in correlation with cardiac CT and cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) images.
Purpose: The purpose is to further a richer understanding of how cardiothoracic structures present in practice by providing Netter and Netter-style images of thoracic and cardiac anatomy in correlation with CT or MR images. These worthy objectives are easily met by this book.
Audience: This is appropriate for radiologists and other practitioners who wish to improve their understanding of cardiothoracic anatomy, although the author does not address this point in the preface. It is also a useful reference for trainees in radiology and relevant clinical fields.
Features: The book is basically divided into two sections. Part 1 presents illustrations of thoracic anatomy, including the lungs, vascular structures, lymph nodes and cisterna chyli and thoracic duct in conjunction with CT studies at the same levels. Part 2 presents cardiac anatomy, including the atria, ventricles, and coronary arteries, and correlates the images with CT and MR studies. The illustrations in both sections are classic, and they are paired with excellent radiological images.
Assessment: The illustrations and the radiological images are all of high quality, making this book a valuable reference for thoracic and cardiac anatomy. It should be on the bookshelf of all radiologists who interpret CT or MR images of the chest.
