Bring your A game to Networking!

How did Joe Sweeney…

…get Bob Costas to come to Milwaukee (in the middle of winter)?
…become the “wingman” to the archbishop of New York City?
…take Brett Favre’s off-the-field income from $65,000 to more than $4 million?

The answer is simple. Networking.

Master networker Joe Sweeney shares his networking secrets from a long and successful career as a business owner, sports agent and executive and investment banking consultant. His first secret: master networkers are focused on giving, not getting.

With today’s difficult economy and uncertain workplace, networking has never been more important. Sweeney’s simple but effective 5/10/15 networking plan will give you a leg up in the current job market, help you stay employed, or, if you’ve been laid off, find your next job. The cliché that who you know is more important than what you know has never been truer. Sweeney illustrates his insights with dozens of helpful examples from his own life (along with a few fascinating insider sports stories).

With special sections on networking for women and minorities, insights into the usefulness (and handicaps) of social networking sites, how to get (and why you need) a wingman and profiles of other master networkers, Networking Is a Contact Sport is a practical and essential guide for anyone who wants to get ahead in today’s economy.

What I wish I would have learned during my six figure education

This is a great book which deserves a place on the bookshelf next to "How to Win Friends and Influence People". As a female physician who struggles a bit in the social arena, I wish someone would have given me this information sooner, saving me some angst over the years. The underlying message of the book is about making positive communication changes and emphasizing important life skills. These tenants are presented in a highly approachable and easy to understand manner. Knowledge gained in several of the book chapters including "Search for Significance", "Art of Networking" and "Working a Room" makes the investment of purchasing and reading this book a bargain. Joe Sweeney's life anecdotes make for an interesting and entertaining read. Here's hoping someday I will have a "wing-man or woman" like Joe! Highly Recommend!!!

This is a good one! Don't let it get away.

Joe Sweeney shares his networking experiences in warm, personal stories that show how the process works. Reading and using the steps outlined in this book will allow you to network on a new, higher level. It is a must read for professionals.

Pretty helpful steps of "how to network"

I'm in a business in which I have to develop clients- this book gives some practical steps about how to network. Some of them- such as clipping articles from the paper and mailing them to the person mentioned in them- seem hokey, but some seem practical (have 5 contacts, 10 letters/emails and 15 phone calls a day).

    New York Times Bestseller?

This book was highly recommended to me and I do love this book. It's worth buying, but it's a high price (maybe for the paperback??). For an ebook I liked Michael Patrick's Blueprint for Billionaires.
