From The Critics
Reviewer: Celso Agner, MD, MS, MSc(Michigan Neurology Partners)Description: Better understanding of molecular biology of tumors and further pharmacological development fostered most of the current therapies in neuro-oncology. This second edition is a needed update of a succinct yet comprehensive, practical approach to current clinical problems in brain tumor diagnosis and treatment.
Purpose: This is intended as an authoritative reference of neuro-oncology for the busy practitioner.
Audience: Neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuro-oncologists, oncologists, and general physicians are the intended audience.
Features: Superbly written, illustrated, and referenced, this book has a unique approach to neuro-oncology. After a brief introduction, the book is divided into sections to provide a clear presentation of the biology and surgical, radiotherapeutic, and pharmacological approaches to the management of brain tumors. More interestingly, the book provides specific pitfalls and personal insight from leading experts in the field. The graphics and photographs are of excellent quality and make understanding complex concepts much easier. Over 70 authors contribute 42 chapters to this book.
Assessment: This is an excellent reference for general medical libraries, as well as departmental libraries in neurosurgery, neurology, radiation oncology, and oncology.
