Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
Reviewer: M. Serdar Alp, MD (University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine)
Description: This is a concise anatomy atlas with the addition of corresponding CT, angiography, MRI, and MR angiography pictures. This is the fourth edition of a book first published in 1983.
Purpose: The author aims to describe neuroanatomy in a detailed but clear fashion. Although there are a lot of anatomy atlases available, this book stands apart from others with its distinct features like clinical orientation and contemporary style. It is a major contribution for the education of medical students.
Audience: An audience for this book ranges from first year medical student to qualified neurosurgeon. A detailed but neat description of neuroanatomy permits a large audience for this book. The author's extensive teaching background and experience from previous editions obviously help to create this book.
Features: Features include the superb print quality and almost excellent illustrations and pictures. No references were used in the text, but recommendations are made for further readings at the end of the book. The table of contents and the index are clear and useful. The atlas is spiral bound, and I believe it is ideal for laboratory use, with easy access to illustrations.
Assessment: This is an informative, concise, and superbly illustrated anatomy atlas. I strongly recommend it for neuroscientists as well as for all medical students.
