Overview

When you use Neurology for the Boards to prepare for exams, you draw on the combined experience of three neurologists who are fresh from their own board exams and know exactly what you need: a methodical review of the core material candidates must master. Beginning with neuroanatomy and basic science, the book progresses to diseases and syndromes as well as their evaluation and treatment; the appropriate scope and depth of coverage. Neurology for the Boards addresses all the clinically important aspects of neurology, plus the esoteric minutiae beloved by the board examiners; fast access to specifics; and an outline format facilitates easy study and retention. Field tested by residents and medical students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Neurology for the Boards helps you manage your study time effectively and concentrate on the material that is most likely to appear on exams. This convenient guide is also an excellent tool for patient evaluation and management. Buy it to help you face the boards with confidence - and keep it for frequent reference in practice.

The book contains black-and-white illustrations.

Editorial Reviews

Daniel B. Hier
This book contains seventeen chapters that outline major areas of neurological knowledge relevant to board examinations. Chapters include anatomy, pharmacology, infections, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. The purpose is to prepare neurology residents for the boards. This book is aimed at neurology residents preparing for the written and oral neurology boards. The book consists of a series of detailed outlines that enumerate facts essential to preparing for neurology boards. This is a useful book that residents can use it as a ""checklist"" to determine their readiness to take boards. They can highlight areas of knowledge/default and refer to standard texts to complete their learning. I like the book and recommend it to residents facing the daunting task of studying for the boards.
From The Critics
An aid to preparing for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certification examination, and a reference for evaluating and managing patients. In addition to a general overview of clinical important aspects, it covers much of the esoteric minutiae beloved by board examiners. There is no index. No date is mentioned for the first edition. Good outline, but time for an update

A very concise review, and a great resource, but a bit slim on a few important board-topics, specifically psychiatry, neuroimmunology and neurooptho. Still worth the money and read.
