This third edition provides a detailed summary of the major areas of neurology. It clearly describes the classic diagnoses as well as new and emerging diagnostic problems. The purpose is to educate the nonneurologist in the changing field of neurology. Because many illnesses present initially with neurological symptoms, it is critical that health care professionals have a sound understanding of this area. This book does meet its high objectives and is a much-needed reference. This book is an appropriate reference for a variety of medical professionals. Although it would be useful for students, residents, and attendings of several specialties, it would be most helpful to the general internist. The contributors are well respected and represent multiple areas of expertise. Included in this book are many diagrams and radiological images. The references are numerous and current, reflecting the relevant and current neurology literature. This edition is a useful reference for multiple health care professionals, especially the general internist. As the field of neurology expands and the number of patients with neurological complaints seen by the nonneurologist increases, there is a great need for this type of reference.
