Meet the Author

After an exhilarating, collaborative writing project, Lori L. Otto had an idea for an original novel. The characters and their rich stories would keep her awake at night, and even with barely any sleep, she felt more alert and alive than she had in years. Let me just say, book one was terribly frustrating and yet I was compelled to read it. Book 2 I cried through large parts of it. Lori Otto has a way with really sucking you into the story emotionally! And her final book of the Emi Lost & Found series, Never Look Back, really was beautiful. I loved it! Definately worth reading the whole series.

I loved this series. The description of details of everyday things is sometimes tedious and I was uncomfortable with the way a few situations played out, but I still overall loved the series and definitely looked forward each day to reading more of Emi's life. The sex scenes are erotic yet tasteful, the sad moments are described so well I cried along with the chatacters, and the characters are the type who will stay with you for weeks after you finish reading the last chapter.

Super glad that Emi was able to move forward with her life, still sad over the loss of Nate but grateful that his memory was kept alive in so many ways. This book was a well-rounded conclusion to an amazing story.

******SPOILER ALERT******************** DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW IS YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST TWO BOOKS!!!******** The third in the Emi Lost and Found series, this book is from Jack's point of view. Jack has been there for Emi throughout the worst part of her life as she struggles to get past losing Nate and their unborn child in a car accident. He has been a patient loving support for her as she discovered her feelings for him go beyond friendship. They have reconnected after that brief but unforgettable kiss at a college party. However as Emi and Jack grow closer she is still haunted by her losses and while she wants to move forward with Jack, can she ever truly love him as much as she loved Nate? The emotional struggles in this book are just as strong as in the other two books and you get sucked into the characters emotions as well. Jack and Emi find that they have issues of their own to work through but the journey is theirs together. This is a beautiful and unforgettable story with characters that are easy to identify with. Again Lori Otto makes you feel exactly what the characters are going through - you can't read this book without getting emotionally involved. Anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one and struggled to move on, will understand the desire and uncertainty of what continuing on really means for your heart. So what are you waiting for?!?! Read it already!

Previous series reviews can be found on my blog. Please note, this review contains spoilers. DO NOT read this review unless you want the series (not just this book) spoiled or you’ve already read it! You’ve been warned. I was a little surprised (and somewhat disappointed) to learn that Never Look Back is from Jack's perspective. It shouldn't have been too surprising, though, because Jack is the other main character in the series besides Emi and Nate. Once I find out that this book was from Jack's POV, I figured it may give me more insight into him as a character and maybe I'd fall in love with him as Emi seemingly did. Unfortunately, that never seemed to happen for me. Instead, I think I ended up liking him even less. I don't feel like Jack was as patient with Emi as we were lead to believe. Outwardly, I believe he was patient with her and her healing over losing Nate. However, internally, he seemed... not really annoyed with her... but less understanding. It almost felt like he thought he was in competition with Nate for Emi's love. The whole "Do you love me more than him?" thing made him seem immature and pissed me off. I didn't like that he seemed to pressure Emi to chose him over Nate, even though Nate was dead. I think he did a poor job of respecting Emi's past relationship with Nate. Overall, I was just disappointed in Jack's character and didn't find him as believable as we were lead to believe in the previous book. Even though I ended up not liking Jack, I believe Never Look Back was a satisfying conclusion to the series. Emi Lost and Found was an absolutely beautiful series and I definitely recommend it to everyone. You can read all of my reviews on my blog, KDH Reviews.

If you haven't read the other two books, please stop reading and go read them. Then come back and read my review. Okay? Okay. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Emi Lost and Found series is one series that EVERYONE needs to read. Instantly, I fell in love with the the characters, Emi, Nate, and Jack. Not to mention, the wonderful side characters that are introduced throughout the series. I am so thankful that I was introduced to this series by some wonderful bloggers. I hope you take my advice and take part in the magic that is the Emi Lost and Found series. Reading through this series was an emotional journey. Along the way, I felt happiness, sorrow, love, anger, frustration, and nostalgic. I was so elated to see Jack's point of view when I started book three. I was swooning the whole time. I didn't think I could love him more, but I totally do. Seeing how Jack saw Emi from the very, very beginning was incredibly touching and helped me let go of the past. (Yes, I was still clinging the past. Don't judge me). "...it was her smile that really drew me in, red lipstick highlighting the most perfect lips, curled up in that way that made it seem like she had a secret that no one else could know. I immediately wanted to know that secret, know every secret that she kept." The book opens with Jack's point-of-view of Chris's, Emi's brother, engagement party at which he delivered the toast and that seemingly jerk-like wink to Nate. Then we get the frat party scene from his point of view. I loved seeing that scene from his point-of-view after getting Nate's side of the story. Even then, the connection between Jack and Emi was there. "I felt numb and incredibly aware of every sensation, all at the same time. My body was alive with energy, aching to burst free from the confines of my skin, yet I could no move an inch, wouldn't move an inch away from her." SQUEEEE!!!! In Time Stands Still, the focus was on Emi's healing and the beginning of her and Jack's relationship. In Never Look Back, Jack wants to take their relationship for the next level. He wants to get married and have kids. But is Emi ready for that? In this book, the events of the last book still haunt her. But not in the way you think. There were new complications that broke my heart. In this book, we find out a lot about Jack that we didn't know before. Jack has been engaged before, but he broke up with her because she didn't want kids. Kids and family are very important to Jack and also to Emi. They want to have a family together. Everyone around them has kids - Jack's sister, Emi's sister, and Emi's brother. I love how opposite Jack and Emi are. Jack is so practical and logical. Every decision he makes he analyzes. He is also very old-fashioned and utterly charming, which only made him even more appealing to me. I am huge fan of beta males, the softies who are sweet and loving without being domineering. Jack is perfect, but not in an annoying "Oh my God you don't exist" sort of way. "And I love finding new pieces, finding the right place for them, each one making you a little more...more visible to me. There are so many facets to you, Emi. And each one...each and every one reveals something completely new about you. Every time I learn something new, I realize there is so much more I don't know. And I thirst to know everything...understanding that I never can...that I never will...that you will always surprise me. See, where you need stability, I need a little unpredictability. It keeps me on my toes...and it keeps me completely enthralled with you. That's why we're so good together." The biggest issue in this book was communication between Jack and Emi. At one point, Emi began to withdrawal. She started acting strangely for no reason. And instead of talking to Jack, she lets him go on his business trip across the world - a trip that he had planned on taking her with him. They were separated by thousands of miles and Emi's lack of contact drove Jack (and me) crazy. I was screaming at them to PLEASE TALK. I was so frustrated with Emi at this point. On one hand, I completely get why she withdrew after her issues were revealed. But at the same time, I wish she would have talked to Jack instead of ignoring him. There was a moment where I really admired Jack for finally speaking up and tell her off (nicely). She needed to hear those words and Jack needed to let it out for once. Never Look Back was the perfect conclusion to the Emi Lost and Found series. The ending was bittersweet for me (well, more sweet than bitter). I loved it! I'm glad that these characters got their happily ever after.
