As a psychic, Jess Abrams knew pack life would fall into a downward spiral if she stayed after a drunken mistake. Her alpha was never going to sell her the bar she'd managed for years, and sleeping with him only ensured he would treat her worse. Taking life by the reins, she decides on a fresh start.

Edenton's Alpha is more than happy to sell the vacant bar to the new werewolf. Years ago Slater lost his first mate. Now he avoids dating his wolves to prevent possible heartache.

Their attraction is unexpected and the last thing either wants. Resisting their obvious connection may prove impossible.

There's a problem. Someone is plotting against Slater, wanting to take the pack for himself. He'll use anything, or anyone, to achieve his goal.

Ladies…Slater is MINE! The magnitude of hotness that the Edenton Series is off the charts hot. There's Brody from In Too Deep (sigh), but for all that is hot we have Slater in New Beginnings (fans self). This is a must read, but ladies...fair warning Slater is spoken me. This series has completely sucked me in and literally though I'm not normally a paranormal reader I cannot wait until the next book in this series is released. Brandy Rivers has done a MAGNIFICENT job of creating a world that you want to be a part of it. There's love, action, and HOT GUYS! The story progresses at a great pace and provides an excellent prequel for In Too Deep. Loved, loved, loved this story. Phenomenal, just PHENOMENAL! Ms. Rivers thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing Slater to us. P.S. Just one final reminder future readers, you are more than welcome to daydream about my man....but that's it.

Brandy L. Rivers New Beginnings Others of Edenton 0.5 Having read (and fallen in love with) In Too Deep, I couldn't wait to start reading this book. Taking place 2 years before In Too Deep, this is the story of Jess and Slater. Firstly, how do I move to Edenton? It sounds too good to be true, with all the sexy hunks living there (Brody still holds my heart, but Slater is a close second now). Every character has its place, and no matter how large or small their part in the story, none seem like background characters. There is a realistic aspect to the story, and reading about Jess' mistakes in her past and how she ended up in Edenton was well written (and will possibly remind you of parts of your own lives!) I have no idea how Jess deals with being a psychic, why would you do anything if you knew it was going to end badly? Despite this, she lives her life best she can, and won't let anything get in her way when she sets her sights on something. Slater is a strong alpha, and cares deeply about his entire pack, no matter how crazy or insane they seem. They both go through an emotional roller coaster of a ride, it would be boring if it went straight to happily ever after, but they finally realise what they could have if they both let it happen. Highly recommend this series to all paranormal romance lovers.

New Beginnings by Brandy L. Rivers Others of Edenton Rating 5***** This book was provided from the author in exchange for honest literary Tebow. This is one of my highly anticipated books of 2013., I am in absolute love with this series! After Fallon and Brody, we now move on to Jess and Slater. From the vert beginning you are drawn into this novel. Once I opened the cover I just didn't stop. I finished the whole thing in one sitting. The plot flies by with just the right mix of suspense. It flows well and puts you roght there in the story. I also loved Jess. Kick butt female leads are simply awesome. It's nice to see characters face things head on and come out head up high. I can't wait to hear the stories of everyone in this town. It's like everyone has their own story to tell, but each story is unique and heartfelt. This is a book you recommend to every single person you know. (Over 18) Michelle mcqueeb

I was given this book by the author for a honest review. I absolutely loved this book. The characters are very real and the story flows perfectly. I was worried I wouldn't like it as much as In Too Deep because I loved Fallon and Brody. I some how got the misconception that Jess was a "soft" women and this book blew that out of the water. One of my favorite Jess quotes is "Stop looking at me like I'm fragile. I'm little, I'm not breakable." The way Jess and Slater fight fate in this book is epic. Knowing that they end up together doesn't hinder the excitement of their story one bit. I already had a love of all the characters and this book just gave me more reason to love them all. You get to see deeper into some of the characters. You also get little bits and pieces of things that may happen in future books, one can hope. There are a couple surprises that play into the story here and there too. The way the author writes you are right in the story as part of the pack. I am very excited to see whose story is next and where it all goes from here!

I DIDN'T LIKE OUR h! Until the end of the book - it does have an HEA. Love Slater, but being an Alpha I thought he was a little weak at times. The sex is hot and passionate. I liked the Epilogue too, it was just alittle in the future, not much, but wraps up everything of our H/h story. (ljb)

I liked the humor and most of the interaction between characters but it just needed more. You get snippets of back ground but not enough to make you care. I will get another book by this author because I did like her humor. I got this for free but I would have paid

Review of New Beginnings by Brandy L. Rivers I was lucky enough to see this novel develop from draft to finished product, and I have to say, Ms. Rivers did an awesome job pulling it all together.  New Beginnings is the prequel to the Other's of Edenton series, which can be read first or after In Too Deep. In New Beginnings, we have the story of Slater, Edenton's own steamy hot pack leader and Jess, a badass psychic who is looking for a clean break and a fresh start. Just like her first book, In Too Deep, Ms. Rivers knows how throw in plenty of action, conflict and suspense.  Oh and I can't forget to mention the hot steamy sex. There is plenty of that!  We get to know some new characters in this installment, like Victoria the vintage and ever so classy vampire. We also get to know some familiar characters even better, such as Brody, my all time favorite, who will steal your heart and make you swoon. If you are looking for a series pack with wolves, vampires, mages, druids, and more 'others' than you can count, with plenty of action and a healthy dollop of sizzle, then this is the place to start.

Rivers WOWs Again! Well, Brandy Rivers has done it again. New Beginnings is every bit (if not more) as engaging as In Too Deep, with vivid, unique, and relatable characters. Oh, and sex. Werewolves, psychics, and sex. Oh my! A pattern I noticed across both of her books, is her gift at opening a story. In both Deep and Beginnings, I found myself instantly pulled into the story, and the characters. Not all writers can do this effectively, but Rivers nails it. As the hero of the book, Slater is easy to fall in love with. He has a strong moral code, is good to his pack and also to those outside it, and is immensely loyal. He immediately takes to Jess and the connection is instantaneous. Despite both of their reservations, they are drawn further together as they realize that they are meant for each other, no matter what their rules for themselves are. I sometimes found myself frustrated with Jess for being so emotional, but then I realized my frustration is based on the fact that everyone, including me, has felt like she has at one point. Overwhelmed, afraid, yet trying to be strong and face her situation bravely. It was nice to see familiar faces from In Too Deep take a more forefront role in Beginnings. Also, characters like Victoria (the "just for sex" friend of Slater; a role that can often be one-note or cliche) really add some fun dimension. In fact, I found myself wanting a book just about Victoria! Rivers also gives readers a snapshot from In Too Deep (her first novel), and Shadows of the Past (her next novel). She estimates November for the third book, and I can't wait to read it!

New Beginning’s leading role’s Jess and Slater will make you laugh and fall in love with their love. Both are stubborn and fight their feelings, but realized quickly that they couldn’t run from fate. Jess is a woman with a snarky attitude, but really has a heart of gold. All she wants to do is run a bar and live a calm life.   Slater is all male, an Alpha one at that, and of course like any normal man, sticks his foot in his mouth, on more than one occasion. He finds a way to dig himself out of the hole and win Jess over. Jess moves to Edenton to get away from her former Alpha who decides that after one night, and one very big mistake she should be his. That doesn’t fly with Jess so she runs away from him and into the arms of her new Alpha, though something she never intended to do. Trouble is brewing in Edenton, and Jess lands right in the middle of the mess. She has a vision of herself, but knows she can’t escape it and goes on with her plans to open the bar. I really don’t want to add too many details from the book because I’ll end up giving too much away. If you’ve read In Too Deep you know that Jess is a wolf and has visions. This is her story and is the prequel to Fallon’s story. I rate this book five stars and would recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romance. Heck, if you just generally like romance this is the book for you. It’s fast paced and will keep you on your toes. Brandy out did herself once again.

The story line is really good and I could have been a great book. However, it's really hard to enjoy a story where the leading lady is so very unlikable . She is such a jerk to Slater that I keep wishing he would tell her to drop dead and go find someone much nicer.

This is the first time I've read a book by this author. I wasn't sure in the beginning because it was a little difficult to follow, but once I read a little further the story develops well. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and I will buy more of her books. This book is a story about werewolves. It begins with the story of Jess (she has a twin named Jamie) who is managing a bar for her alpha, Gregory. Jess has been trying to get him to sell her the bar but he doesn't think women should own anything. Too bad for him! She gets drunk one night and ends up in his bed. When she wakes she thinks OMG, I have to get out of here (not just his house but his territory). She is psychic and knows how it will turn out and she knows he will try to be all possessive and controlling. Jess turns out to be an alpha female and no way is Gregory capable of taming her. She knows of a bar for sale in another wolf's territory so she calls the alpha of that pack and talks to him about selling it to her. They come to an agreement and she starts packing, within 2 wks she has relocated and told Gregory to stuff it. She is attracted to the new alpha, Slater. but has sworn off wolves and definitely alphas. He was previously mated but lost his mate to depression and subsequent death by a bear. It’s an interesting dance of attraction between the two who are busy denying any attraction. In the background we learn of another story going on involving Liam, a psycho wolf who is unfortunately, Slater’s second in command. As the story develops you finally figure out that Liam is schizophrenic (he hears and listens to the voices in his head). Liam is jealous of, well pretty much everybody who plays a major part in the story and his condition escalates to a point of no return. In the meantime the story of Slater and Jess develops but with several interesting twists. It has a happy ending but you really can’t tell until right before you arrive there. I would definitely recommend this book. .
