Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Versions of the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook have been pleasing and educating families for over 70 years. Perhaps our palates are more sophisticated and our nutritional sense more developed these days, but the BH&G Cookbook has remained a top seller and a family favorite. The new edition, the 12th, helps explain why. This loose-leaf classic includes the charts and sidebars and glossaries that Mom and Dad loved, but also hundreds of all-new, kitchen-tested recipes and new information on kitchen appliances and equipment.
Library Journal
In addition to 1200 recipes and 700 full-color photos, this limited edition contains a special "Pink" section featuring recommendations to lower cancer risk through healthy eating, information on "superfoods"-e.g., cranberries, broccoli, apricots-and 60 related recipes. Should be a basic in every kitchen

I have owned several editions of the Better homes and Gardens Cookbook dating from the 1960's to the present. I find that this newest edition is excellent and has endeavoured to stay current regarding popular foods. It contains all the yummy basics that are used regularly by cooks (Good, tasty and reliable bread recipies, (try the 'Biscuits supreme' they are the best I have ever had) delicious meat recipes, puddings, cakes and healthy salads etc.) without too much reliance on packaged and canned foods. The recipes can be unequivequally trusted. My dislikes would be that the photos in the new edition are a little difficult to decipher and focus on, and that many of the foods needed more salt than the recipe called for (easily remedied-just add more salt the next time). These, however, would not deter me from buying it. I would recommend this book to anyone (as I frequently do). It is well worth the money.

    Nice cookbook

Bought this cookbook to replace a very worn and used basic cookbook from Better Homes. After 30+ years mine was falling apart. Not very happy with the spiral aspect of this cookbook. Some pages have already torn and the spiral is no longer holding them. Overall it is an excellent cookbook with many of the same basic recipes from years ago and a bunch of new ones too. For the price it was well worth the money.

    Nice Cook Book

I think this is a nice cook book, it has lots of info, it would make a nice gift. I had to add page tabs to help keep the pages from ripping out.

This cookbook is by far one of the best cookbooks out there! It has so many wonderful recipes. There is one for EVERY occasion. I recommend this book to everyone that loves to cook, that wants to learn to cook or anyone that needs to cook a meal every now and again!

    Simply Wonderful

I got this from my mom for christmas as my first cookbook and I just love it. The pages have a sort of gloss on them so if you spill something it is easy to clean right off. The recipes are basic, but classic in taste. My favorite is that every recipe tells you how long it's going to take so you never have to worry about spending all night cooking.
