Barnes & Noble - David McGee
Believe the title: Wynonna sounds revitalized on NEW DAY DAWNING, dealing the strongest set of songs and most potent vocal performances since her early solo albums. Coproducing with three top-flight Nashville producers, Wy delivers again and again on an album that gets better with each listening. "Can't Nobody Love You Like I Do" gives her an opportunity to roll out her bluesy, sultry side, while "I've Got Your Love" has a fatback Memphis feel that lets Judd settle into a deep, funky groove as she preaches tenderly about the soul-sustaining power of love. On a similar note, her feathery falsetto rendering of Joni Mitchell's "Help Me" suggests a vulnerability the oldest ...

On a similar note, her feathery falsetto rendering of Joni Mitchell's "Help Me" suggests a vulnerability the oldest Judd daughter hasn't readily admitted to on record. Indicative of her newfound vitality, she offers a delicate, heart-tugging plea for understanding in the wake of a love affair gone horribly wrong on "Learning to Live with Love Again." This is Wynonna at her most self-revealing, and most courageous. NEW DAY DAWNING isn't an album; it's an autobiography. And it makes for a gripping experience.
All Music Guide - Maria Konicki Dinoia
Southern gospel and soul, rockers, and ballads all grace Wynonna Judd's fifth release as a solo artist and her first as co-producer. One of the most recognizable voices in country music, the depth and range of her voice can be heard from the first track, the rhythmic "Going Nowhere," to the last, the soulful "I Can't Wait to Meet You." Fans will be delighted to hear Judd put her rock-influenced country-pop spin on Joni Mitchell's "Help Me." And of course, what's a good Wynonna album without her signature growl? As a bonus for Judd fans, New Day Dawning includes a special second CD, Big Bang Boogie, available in limited quantities with four new tracks from Wynonna and Naomi. The Judds reunion CD, however brief, is an exciting extra to the already electrifying New Day....

This New Day is a Sunny One!!

On the first track of this album Wy teases and pulls you in with some slightly familiar sounding accoustic guitar but this is no Judds album. It's all Wynonna!! She starts out kind of country but of course with a Wynonna Twist. This pulls Judds country fans in but it's really symbolic of where she started. With each track as her vocal style and sound changes she slips farther away from it untill she conjurs up Aretha(Chain Reaction) and Bonnie Raitt(Learning to live with love again). High noon comes on the final track where she covers a sweaty version of Macy Grays

    Wynonna Revitalized

This album encompasses everything I loved from Wynonna's two solo releases and expounds on them. Wynonna has finally come into her own and realized that she doesn't have to growl and scream her way to be truly emotional. I personally love this album and love how Wynonna is finally expanding that awesome voice she has. You will have trouble recognizing Wy on her cover of Joni Mitchell's
