    very good reference book

The only problem I have with this book is that I already have one. The reason I purchased this one is because when I was checking it out it had a publishers date for 2009 and I thought it was A updated copy of my older book but it the same exact copy of my 1996 copy. But my old copy is now in use at my sisters house.

    My book of secrets

I have had this book since the early 1970s. My kids always wondered how I knew how to fix the washer, toilet or figure out why the dryer won't heat. They thought I knew everything about appliance repair. This book is why. My son recently married and bought a new house. I am letting him in on my secret even though he's pretty handy. I know he'll appreciate it.

This Book Pays For Itself Many Times Over!

This is by far the best investment I've ever made...I just fixed my own washing machine a few weeks ago by referring to this manual, AFTER my husband scratched his head and gave up on it! I've used the manual to troubleshoot and repair an older model washer and a dryer, also. It showed me the proper ways to repair and replace zippers, repair and re-glue dining room chairs, troubleshoot a problem with our lawn mower, and lots more. The instructions and photos are clear and concise...I had no problem at all with them. I also think that this book would be interesting to read even if you never have to reference it for a repair. I'm so glad I bought it when I did...I've probably saved at least $300. already by doing my own repairs.

    Answer to a prayer

This book has made me into the best handywoman, I would NEVER have believed I could be. I have fixed so many emergencies while my husband was away (&when he's here) it's unbelievable. I brought copies for both my daughters and my son. Easy to understand

Don't buy this book. You are lead to believe that it was update

Don't buy this book. You are lead to believe that it was updated in 2009. It was NOT. It is the same book that was published in 1996. The copywrite page states that it is the 1996 book. The only difference between this book and the 1996 edition is the cover. Even the ISBN is the same. You would not expect this from Readers Digest.

Good Book but out of date

I purchased this book hoping to get updated information on how to fix things yourself. However, the content is the same as the 1996 edition. I sent the book back and will use my 1996 edition it till they update content.

    My non-religious bible

I bought Fix-It-Yourself in 1977. Every, and I mean every one of my friends, has asked to look up something. One man became inflamed, yelling 'No wonder you know how to fix everything'. I won't let it out of my sight for fear of not getting it back. It is a must for all women and most men. Now I need a newer edition but will never throw the old one away.
