New Global Economies

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jennifer Waldrop
This latest offering in the "The World Today" series looks like a textbook from the outside. The hardcover with a large centered title over a picture of what appears to be a foreign stock market is enough to send most young adults looking for lighter fare. Once they open the book, however, the content is engaging and interesting, combining an in-depth examination of the new global economy with the thoughts and opinions of both ordinary citizens and the leaders in this new global economy. The analytical ideas in themselves are very interesting, and the layout of the book complements the material in a way that makes it easy to read and enjoy. Several pictures throughout the book provide visual aids for the subject matter that help bring it to life. The book's main weakness is its short length. The information it provides is interesting and easy to understand, but it feels incomplete, inviting a more comprehensive version of this title. Reviewer: Jennifer Waldrop
