Very good opener for a smashwords author

Amazing people. Dont listen to the other reviewer who said it was okay. He/she does not apreciate the briliant pace and raw description of this self published novel. Its gritty and exciting and really puts you into the world of the characters. Overview... When young Simon finds his village of Miran destroyed by pillaging marauder pirates he also must say goodbye to his hard nosed father who is apprenticing him in printing. Who rolls into town but Simon's great uncle Tiberius Bogg. He is a gruff mountain man and a drifter who must find the decency to take Simon with him on his quest to find the vicious men who killed his brother and the boys father. Along the way they meet up with classic dangers that you would expect from a fantasy slash adventure novel. But this is also a coming of age novel as fearful Simon finds strength under extreme hardship. Even Bogg must learn to love someone other than self if they are to survive in this great introduction to a hopefully recurring author. Sincerely Christian Parker.

    Great read!

I am not a regular book reviewer; having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is well written, and the characters are believable. The story line lends itself to sequels which I will keep an eye out for in the future.

    An unusual survival/revenge story

Overall the book was OK. For those who like to read adventure stories, this one is unusual since it's like an alternate history/fantasy story. It's a story of a quest by a boy and his uncle to get revenge for the killing of the boy's father. So if you think that type of story would be interesting, I recommend. The writing style is well paced and some concepts like the 4 legged hill (a large elephant-like animal) are interesting.

    New world is right!

A New World is right! New world, new creatures, new story, new everything except for good old quality writing. I enjoyed the bits of light humor even to keep the readers focus refreshed! Kudos

    Amazing!

Literally a whole new world full of amazing creations and interesting characters. Is it adventure, coming-of-age, Western or fantasy? All of that and more.

Easily the best work this author's ever done, and I NEED a sequel! There's a lot more uncharted land out there!

    good story

This was pretty good story, plenty of action, only thing that kind of annoyed me was the use of odd words for Directions, I never really knew which way i was heading during the travels. I think normal English North South East West would have sufficed.
