On field trips I carry a DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteer for each state that I am visiting... They can save miles of driving and lead you to photo spots not in the average tourist brochure or guidebook.

Purchased this in anticipation of starting the second phase of retirement in the Hudson Valley are of New York. I have several other DeLorme State maps. This one exceeds my expectations based on past experiences with this brand of map. I am able to retrace our December 2014 travel within the area and thus obtain a much clearer understanding of the area. Would be very helpful if one were merely visiting the State.

Excellent authoritative resource. If you spend time in a vehicle looking for the unexpected waterfall not mentioned in waterfall reference books, and find such ones, this will allow you to at least either find it on the map or its water source (name of brook etc.). We found a large number of uncited cascades this year (2011) and I've found several of them on the atlas with only a perfunctory look already! Enjoy!

I always like to know where I'm going. This gazetteer lists all the small roads in NYS so you can't get lost anymore. A perfect companion for those of us who don't have a GPS system available!
