Meet the Author

About Our Authors and Contributors Eve Zibart has written more about dining and entertainment than most people experience in a lifetime. In her early years as the pop music and culture reporter for, first, the Nashville Tennessean and then for the Washington Post, Eve quickly exhibited a flair for scene and sensory detail coupled with an aptitude for grammar and an extensive vocabulary. She rapidly moved through the ranks of the Post as a "Weekend" assistant editor, a "Maryland" columnist, the "TV" editor, and a "Style" feature writer. Currently, Eve is the restaurant columnist and resident nightlife writer for the Washington Post's "Weekend" section. Known to friends and fans as "Dr. Nightlife," Eve has enough experience and knowledge to advise the Joint Chiefs of Staff on national trends. In addition to her responsibilities at the Post, Eve is a regular contributor to USAir inflight, New England Financial Journal, Impress, and Four Seasons magazines and has written for Cosmopolitan, Town and Country, Book Page, and Playboy. Given an amazing ability to turn 24 hours into 30, Eve has found time to author several books, including The Unofficial Guide to Ethnic Cuisine and Dining in America; The Eclectic Gourmet Guide to Washington, D.C.; The Unofficial Guide to Branson, Missouri; The Unofficial Guide to New Orleans; Walt Disney World for Grown-Ups; and The Unofficial Disney Companion: The Inside Story of Walt Disney World and the Man Behind the Mouse. Bob Sehlinger is the creator and executive publisher of the Unofficial Guide series. He has authored over 20 books on travel and outdoor recreation. Lea Lane is a hotel maven, visiting and researching perhaps 1,000 rooms around the world—including in The Big Apple—for many guidebooks and trade publications, such as Birnbaum's United States, Zagat's Hotel and Resort Survey, and Star Service, the premiere travel agent reference. In addition, Lea has been a columnist for Gannett Suburban newspapers, a TV travel and lifestyle reporter, managing editor of the newsletter Travel Smart, and coauthor of a book on cruises. She is a major contributor to Fodor's Greece and Fodor's Naples and the Amalfi Coast, and is the author of The Unofficial Guide to Bed & Breakfasts in New England. Jim Leff (Dining and Nightlife contributor), dubbed "the godfather of the New York underground food scene" by author Anya Von Bremzen, has written about New York City restaurants and nightlife for Newsday, New York Press, Time Out NY, Brooklyn Bridge, and Down the Hatch. According to the New York Times, Leff is "unsurpassed in discovering unusual restaurants in every corner of the city," and his Chowhound Web site (www.chowhound.com) is a gathering place for ardent eaters and "exactly what you want to see on the Web." Look for his Eclectic Gourmet Guide to Greater New York City, published in late 1998. Wonki Kim (Dining contributor) is a Manhattan attorney who has eaten his way around most of Manhattan's best restaurants thanks in large part to his firm's generous expense account. He has for some time been offering food reviews on an informal basis in cyberspace at the Chowhound.com Web site, where he has built up a cult following for his candid commentary and passionate reviews.
