A Must Have on the Shelves for Anyone Interested in History

First of all, let me just start by saying I got this book for Christmas. Id seen it during my two weeks with the Army at a college in San Antonio, added it to my Christmas list, and patiently waited. I was excited when I opened it, but most excited were my sister, brother, and cousins, all avowed HISTORY HATERS. We sat down, and went over the front pages of this book for at least two hours, them marvelling at "Lusitania Sunk!" and "CIVIL WAR BREAKS OUT!" They would then ask me questions about the events in question, and I did my best to answer them with the help of my history buff father and grandfather. It was one of the most charming and best experiences of my life, and I will always remember it.

Flipped through the pages of this book is gripping, heart breaking, and encouraging. This books needs to be on the shelves of every library, in every history class, in the histroy buffs reading room, and anyone that wanted to enter politics, the press, become an author... so on. I cant think of anyone that shouldnt read this book.

It makes you wonder, in another one hundred years when The NY Times comes out with another one of these... what will the people then think about our headlines?

    History and entertainment!

This is a terrific compilation, beautifully presented, that not only spans the top news of 150 years, but is also a interesting look at how reporting changed during those times. I gave this book to my 25 year old son and he loved it!

    Interesting Gift for History Buffs

Got this for my father for Christmas, and he was really intrigued. In fact, he spent much of Christmas Day reading the book and sharing tidbits with the family. If you have a history buff in your life, this is a good find. Otherwise, for the casual reader, it's a little dry.

    great gift for baby boomers...

Gave this book to several people for Christmas and they loved it! I was a little disappointed in that I believed all the front pages were in the book (wasn't thinking how big that would be!), but they are available on the included disc. Would definitely recommend it for giving!

My whole family loved this book!

This was a Christmas gift for a family member and we each took turns looking at the historical images and reading about the headlines. It is a remarkable book and worth every penny! And it is great for kids to learn about our nation's past.
