Overview

In this funny, poignant debut, a plus-size heroine becomes a reality TV show contestant and discovers she's already beautiful enough to be the next big thing.

Kat Larson figured she had nothing to lose by becoming a contestant on the new reality show From Fat to Fabulous-except maybe a few dozen pounds. Then she'd finally be able to arrange a face-to-face meeting with Nick, the British hunk she met online, who still thinks she's a size four. She'd finally be confident and graceful and thin-and there's that big cash prize, too, to pay for all those slinky new clothes she'd need. She'd finally have the perfect life.

I cannot believe the price of this book, not worth it!!!

I recently read a review demanding that a pre-order price of $10.99 be boycotted as waaay to expensive and exploitive of e-book buyers. I saw no problem since a hard cover of a new book would have been more. But... Oh My Glory!!! $17.99 for an e- book is way too much. The only book I would pay that kind of money for on my Nook is a text book. If there was to be a boycotted price, this should be it. The stars aren't real in my shock my finger went into riggor and skipped,, now I can't take them back. LOL!

I couldn't decide whether I liked or hated this book. The story itself was very engaging, I read it quickly because I wanted to see what happened. I didn't find it very authentic, though. The dialogue between characters is awful, so unrealistic. The characters were saying things to each other that didn't make sense, considering we did not know enough background info about each character. If you are going to have someone spout out the cruel things that many characters in this book did, you need to show why that character is like that, in my opinion. So many of the characters were under-developed. I never really connected to the main character, Kat. I didn't find her commentary on being overweight to be extremely authentic. There is almost no talk of the actual process of losing weight on the show, it focuses much more on the "drama" and the weight-loss aspect took a backseat to everything else. Despite this, I did enjoy it as a quick read, but one I probably won't remember.

For the most part, I found the book funny and entertaining. I am glad that someone finally work about large women. We are more the norm than the skinny models and the fashion world should pay attention to us. She brought those issues to light and dealt with them adequately. I would recommend this book. It's not my favorite but I enjoyed the ending.

I was very excited to read this book so when it arrived in the mail I immediately started reading it. I finished it later that day and felt completely void. It was a fast, easy read and I just couldn't put the book down, but it was predictable and rather silly. If you're in the mood for something like that then I would recommend The Next Big Thing.

I enjoyed this book. It was lighthearted but still drove home an important message of how our society views overweight women.

I got this at the bargain price and it was definitely worth it!! Typical Chick-lit with a twist for the 'larger' woman. I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this book! Its deals with serious matters, such as wieght, relationships, and most of all, how us women deal with our body issues. I really thought it was a fun loving book and every girl out there should read it!

This book is just like watching reality TV only you get contestant, Kat's, POV all the time. I enjoyed reading about the reality TV process but some of the character's were a little cliche. Some of the twists were predictable. Overall, Kat or Katrina is a likable character with a reaslitic lifestyle. The author did an excellent job in describing her ongoing battle with obesity. A fun read.

I'm usually don't read 'chick lit', but this book was great! It was hilarious, clever, fast-reading, and it had a great plot. I highly recommend this!

This was a very funny and entertaining book, but the ending could have been better. I guess it works, but it was not as 'big' as I thought it would be. Oh well. Still worth the read.

This is my life! Everything from her size 18 wardrobe to her online boyfriend! Kat is me, only I'm Donna (literally, my name is Donna, and my best friend is Katrina). That's part of the main reason I bought this book. This turned out to be such a good buy! I couldn't put it down! Every girl should read this, from fat to fab!

This book is great if you are looking for an easy read that's also a page turner. It's light and entertaining. I wish she would write a sequel about the main character!

This was one of the best books I have ever read! Besides identifiying almost exactly with the main character (the only thing we don't have in common is I was never on a reality show!!), this book was hilarious! I think that anyone could sympathize and find humor in this book, no matter your size - but if you do have a few extra pounds, this book is so easy to identify with! I read it in less than 5 hours, I could NOT put it down. I love to read, but this book was one I just could not put down, I HIGHLY recommend and would love to see more from this author!

I loved this book. I read it from cover to cover on a flight yesterday because I just couldn't put it down. It is witty and clever and covers so much more than weight issues. I loved the disection of reality shows, online relationships, adult friendships and taking risks. This book has it all. I personally thought the end was fantastic too. The lead character had to learn a lot in order to get there, not just lose 40 pounds.

I read this book by accident (don't ask) but it all turned out for the best. Edwards is very witty. She has a real natural knack for moving a story. Now, the story did have some twists that were a little unbelievable (you will see what I am talking about when you read it) but over all these are minor bumps in the road of what is an otherwise glorious trip.

This is one of the most phenomenal books I have ever read! I agree with others who said it is really inspirational. I felt energized as I read and was compelled to motivate myself to start exercising and losing weight when I'd finished. Finally, a heroine we 'normal' girls can relate to! I really enjoyed the side stories with Kat's friend outside of the reality show. I thought this was so realistic, a lot like watching a TV show made into a book.
