    A Fantastic Future Begins!

Of the thousands of comic books I've read over the last four decades, the ones contained in NEXUS OMNIBUS VOLUME ONE are right at the top of my list. NEXUS is a joy to read and to behold, a science-fiction fan's dream come true as the complex story of a superhero-like assassin of mass murderers delivers in all areas: mystery, philosophy, ambiguity, poetry, dry wit, action, absurdist humor done to subtle perfection, glorious visuals from the brilliant Steve Rude (his art alone makes this an essential addition to any comics library), politics, love, friendship, guilt, perverse villainy, mundane villainy...a universe for a reader to explore, far ahead of its time and easily as good as the best comics being published today by anyone. (Dark Horse is publishing new Nexus short stories...BRING BACK THE SERIES!) NEXUS has always been on my shelf next to LOVE AND ROCKETS, R. Crumb, Bill Griffith, Frank Miller, Alan Moore, the great comics work from the 80s to now. Crank up some Meat Puppets or FLIP YOUR WIG and take a trip with Mike Baron, Steve Rude, Horatio Hellpop, Dave and Judah and Tyrone and all the rest of the one-of-a-kind characters on Ylum and beyond! A part of you will never come back!
