Editorial Reviews

Library Media Connection
"Appropriate for reluctant native Spanish readers, especially appealing to females. For students learning Spanish, this title is appropriate for strong second year students and beyond."
Children's Literature - Mandy Cruz
This translated version of Kicked Out is the story of a fifteen-year-old named Diana who is having a terrible time getting her act together. Since the accident that left her brother a quadriplegic, she has not been able to find common ground with her parents and cannot seem to completely earn the respect of her boyfriend. When her brother suggests she move in with him with the only rule being that she has to cook, Diana finally starts to sort things out. By getting an inside look at how capable her seemingly incapable brother is, Diana is forced to examine the reasons her life is not going the way she would like. Eventually Diana realizes that the person she thought cared about her the most, her boyfriend, actually cares about her least and that her parents had good cause for being so strict with her. An almost coming-of-age novella, this book focuses on the misperceptions teens sometimes have about their parents and boyfriends. Reviewer: Mandy Cruz
