Children's LiteratureAnother title in a series called "Bigger Bites for Bigger Readers," relates the account of Mia's friend Emily and her birthday party at the local fairy shop. Since Alice, Mia's big sister, has already been to two parties at the fairy shop, Mia is certain she knows what to expect. However, the bossy Blue Fairy (instead of the Pink Fairy) reads a boring story, loses her place, and turns the maypole dance into a disaster. Little four-year-old Ben ends up tied fast to the center of the maypole. When the children wind all the ribbons around Emily and cover her, Ben cries because he thinks she has disappeared. Finding ants in the fairy bread also adds to the complete chaos. Of course, Mia is delighted with this exciting party and eagerly shares what happens with her sister. Simply drawn black-and-white sketches are found on almost every page and are a good complement to the story. 2006, Running Press Kids, Ages 6 to 9.
