Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jennie DeGenaro
This thirty-two page picture book is a part of the "I Can Read" series. It is written at the Number Two level, designed for children who are reading with help. There are five levels of difficulty in this series. This book is told about Larry, the protagonist, who had been the night guard at the Museum of Natural History in New York City. He knows a secret about his friends, the statues, and has a plan to help them. During this adventure, he almost runs over a real-life hero, Amelia Earhart. The adventure includes other historical characters from real life. This make-believe book should appeal to children reading high interest books as they develop reading skills. There are other "Night at the Museum" books in the series children will enjoy as well. Bringing famous people into a fictional story allows some facts to be learned. This book was adapted by Catherine Hapka, based on the screen play by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon. Children will be delighted to find this series in their library. Reviewer: Jennie DeGenaro
