Behind the walls of Darkness...the Night Demons wait...

Fictionwise #1 Bestseller. Eppie Award nominated.

Deep within the blood-drenched walls of an ancient mansion Nathan Courtwright initiates a bizarre rite that will free every depraved soul since time immemorial to prey upon the living. Halted on the verge of success, he discovers the cost of failure is far greater: living interment in the family mausoleum, his demon soul consigned to a netherworld of suffering for all eternity. But when the mausoleum is torn down a century later, the evil that was Nathan Courtwright escapes...an evil capable of prying into its victims' deepest fears and blackest nightmares.

Haunted by frightening visions, Paul Stanford returns to the fate-shrouded town of Dark Harbor, Maine--a town filled with sorrow and dark memories. Within days he finds himself locked in a desperate and terrifying struggle that spans a century-old feud and demonic desires. Only he holds the key to the door of the damned-a key that will cost him the life of the woman he loves and his very soul. A key that will fill the world with Night Demons...

"...one of the best horror authors to come out of Maine since Stephen King—and Night Demons, with its deep characterization, its exceptional realm of horror, and page after page of super suspense proves that tenfold. Don’t pass up this extraordinary novel by an extraordinary author."
--Margaret Marr, Nights & Weekends Reviews

YES!!! You WANT to read this book!

"Paul turned, about to get back into his car when something caught his attention. Again, the sense of dread crawled through him, the sense that something hidden was calling to him, though much weaker than before. His gaze seemed drawn to one of the boarded-up windows, to an uncovered dusty pane, as if the strange feelings were emanating from the glass. As he watched, Paul swore for an instant, a face, tenuous and childlike, appeared in the window. A boy's face. The remnants of a child's gleeful laugh seemed to echo from somewhere, nowhere, everywhere, as quickly dissolving in the wind. "Tommy..." Paul whispered...". What better way to let others know what an amazing writer Howard Hopkins is than with his own words? Mr. Hopkins captivates, no...captures his readers and takes them on a wild ride. You aren't an outsider looking into his stories, you are a part of them. The people and places are so believable and his discriptions make it so easy for them to spring to life. Whether it is Night Demons or any other of Mr. Hopkins' breathtaking reads, you won't be dissapointed!

    Chilling and Entertaining!

One hundred years ago, the Courtwright family relegated one of their own, Nathan, to a place of torture and suffering. Trapped within a mausoleum, the demon within Nathan could not escape-until now. When the construction company opens the mausoleum near the old Courtwright mansion, evil escapes to try once again to free those depraved souls to prey upon the living. Paul Stanford left Dark Harbor, Maine, ten years ago with no plans to return. Yet something calls him back-something dark and frightening-and it's futile to resist. As years of bad memories assault him, he tries to hang on to the one bright spot: Jenny, the woman he left behind but couldn't forget. Unaware of the key within him that will open the door to unspeakable evil, Paul struggles with his past while a demon stalks, waiting for the perfect time to prey on his weaknesses. Jenny Thornton got over Paul, married, and brought a son into the world. Now divorced, she works as a doctor at Dark Harbor Memorial Hospital. When Paul waltzes back into her life, those old feelings return-but can she trust him? Chilling and nerve-shattering, Night Demons will drag you into a world of darkness and evil that'll leave your mouth dry and your pulse near the heart attack zone. Tension sizzles on the page and the suspense builds until, like a pot of boiling stew on the stove, it bursts over the edge, leaving you gasping for your next breath. Each character stands out, unique and memorable. Even now, I can picture all of them in my mind-Mrs. Gaumont, Cindy, Sheriff Baker, Deputy Hudson, and Carl Speckler, among others. Paul is an average guy who has made some mistakes in his past, and it's pretty obvious that he's going to make more in the present. Yet you'll cheer for him and hope he'll stand up and fight this time. Jenny, meanwhile, is what every woman should be: strong, yet cautious-an admirable heroine who will capture your heart. Howard Hopkins is one of the best horror authors to come out of Maine since Stephen King-and Night Demons, with its deep characterization, its exceptional realm of horror, and page after page of super suspense proves that tenfold. Don't pass up this extraordinary novel by an extraordinary author. This review first appeared at Nights and Weekends
