James Bond era espionage when Russia was the arch-enemy. Plenty of action, some interesting situations, a lot of unneeded sex scenes. And a cat.

NIGHT MAGIC Karen Robards Grand Central Publishing ISBN: 978-0-446-35391-5 $7.99 - Paperback 384 pages Reviewer: Annie Slessman A reissue, Night Magic, by Karen Robards is the story of a young writer, Clara Winston who spends her time writing romance novels and taking care of her three cats. She is a Southern bred woman who has lead, up until now, a sensible and sane life. Mistakenly taken as the girlfriend of Jack McClain, a CIA agent, Russian KGB agents take her from her home, her cat Puff in hand, to try to gain information from her. They have also taken McClain and when they escape their kidnappers, they set about on a journey to discover the identity of a Russian killer, Bigfoot. Clara is faced with things she never dreamed of in her sane life as she runs with Jack in an effort to evade being killed. Along the way she and Jack develop a relationship unlike anything Clara has ever known. The story takes a reader through their paces as Clara and Jack seek the man they are hunting. Robards in the writing of this tale has developed a cast of characters that vividly provoke a reader's interest. If you didn't catch this story the first time around, do so this time. At $7.99 it provides inexpensive and quality entertainment.

Proofreading is not too much to ask.

I have read many of Ms Robards books and have enjoyed them very much, but this is not one of them. The story line has been done many times before and the dialogue is very elementary. I found Clara to be annoying and Jack to be one dimentional. Not one of Robards best.

A 30yr old contemporary romance is NOT enjoyable. Vietnam and the KGB! Besides that, the typos were distracting and the dialogue trite and the leads were annoying. delete!

The grammatical errors and typos were numerous enough that it killed my ability to get lost in the story. It's like a watching movie where they neglected to edit out a microphone falling into the scene.

Good storyline, but the spelling errors make it frustrating to read.

Great suspense and romance in one book. I thought this was a great story - from the very first page to the last. I totally enjoyed the verbal fencing between the heroine and hero - that they didn't exactly get along from the first. And the pace was fast and furious. I totally enjoyed this book and will look forward to reading more of Karen Robards books. They are always guaranteed to be a exciting trip!

I read this several years ago, and enjoyed it so much. I loved the comical parts and the characters. I bought it to keep so I can read it again someday.

I enjoyed the story, which was a "spy romance" with a few different angles. As I usually like all of the Karen Robards books I have read, that was no surprise, however, the surprise came with the number of misspelled words, words that were just wrong (had nothing to do with the line you were reading) and more typos than I have ever seen in a book. Could have used a good proof reader!
