Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Poems and soft pastel drawings should encourage little ones to settle down for the night. "Skidamarink" is not a poem that one encounters frequently and is certainly not as familiar as others such as "Hush, Little Baby" and "Rock-a-bye, Baby" but the rhyme will be fun as it repeats the refrain "I love you." Most of the scenes are set at night with stars and moon in the dark sky. Others like "Hush, Little Baby" have comical illustrations that run around the two-page spread. It is unfortunate that the sixth stanza has a typo "car" instead of "cart." Caregivers who are reading should be able to note and change the word themselves. This board book offers a bit of nostalgia for parents and soothing lullabies for little ones. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
