Lindsay lives in Yorkshire, England, where she was born, and started writing stories at an early age. Always a voracious reader, she took a degree in medieval history and worked in a library for a while, then began to write full-time after marriage. As well as the books reissued here, her books are currently published by Kensington Zebra ('A Knight's Vow', 'A Knight's Captive', 'A Knight's Enchantment', 'To Touch the Knight'), Bookstrand ('Flavia's Secret', 'Blue Gold', 'Bronze Lightning', 'Chasing Rachel', 'A Secret Treasure', 'Holiday in Bologna' and 'Palace of the Fountains', Ellora's Cave ('The Lord and Eleanor') and MuseItUp ('An Older Evil', 'A Christmas Sleeping Beauty' and 'Midsummer Maid' - all available here (https://www.smashwords.com/books/search?query=lindsay+townsend+museitup).

Melissa Haye and Katherine Hopkins are professional and personal rivals, utterly opposed in aims and looks. When Melissa, a wildlife photographer, goes to the unspoilt Greek island of Asteri to investigate the death of her lover Andrew, she discovers a deadly wildlife smuggling conspiracy in which ruthless businesswoman Katherine is deeply involved. As Melissa strives to uncover the truth she must choose whom to trust on the island - the handsome and reclusive British sculptor and former Olympic swimmer David, or Nicholas, the abrasive, dynamic American-Greek Mayor of Asteri.
In this romantic suspense dealing with wildlife smuggling - one of the most lucrative and deadly of all illegal trades - matters come to a head during a great storm which envelopes Asteri, cutting the island from the outside world, and Melissa from all help. A mysterious and vital shipment of rare wildlife cargo has been landed on Asteri and Melissa must save it and Nicholas' daughter Roxanne from ruthless men who will stop at nothing to get what they want.

What a love of a book! From its international wildlife smuggling ring to the sunny Greek isles, this story captured and held my attention. Wildlife photographer Melissa Haye travels to the Greek island of Asteri, near where her boyfriend Andrew was murdered two months ago. The mayor of the island and a talented sculptor intrigue and concern her. Though she’s attracted to each man, they exude power, authority, and mystery. In the vein of heroines in my favorite novels by Victoria Holt and Mary Stewart, Melissa also believes each man might have killed Andrew, making each encounter with them frought with possibilities and danger. Her enemy and Andrew’s former lover, Katherine Hopkins, soon arrives on the island, and Melissa’s troubles intensify. Will she learn who killed her beloved Andrew, or will she face the same fate herself? Townsend’s characters and setting are artfully drawn, luring me into a familiar world of high stakes and romance. A gripping tale with a satisfying ending.
One of Townsend's earlier books and a very good one. The heroine is lively and determined, the wildlife trafficking plot is still an issue today and the Mediterranean setting is clearly written from knowledge and affection.
