Lost in the shadow of Penn Warren's more famous All the King's Men, Night Rider, while not quite up to the level of that Pulitizer Prize winning classic, is nonetheless worthy of a careful read. The writing is high quality, the story carries along well, and while fictional, provides a good idea of what life and politics were like in the South during that period. If you like Penn Warren's writing, and you like talkes of southern politics and romantic drama, give Night Rider a try, its a very pleasurable and worthwhile book.
