On their second LP, Dr. Frank and company sharpen their pop hooks and instrumental prowess, though admittedly, they are still a far cry from being Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Based on "Now We Are Twenty-One"'s references to Captain Crunch cereal and The Brady Bunch, one might dismiss Dr. Frank as another pop-culture damaged hipster-doofus opus, but "The History of the Concept of the Soul" erases any notion that Frank is stupid. Although the rest of the album is fleshed out with other strong tunes, MTX had still not yet reached their creative peak. Like Everybody's Entitled to Their Own Opinion, the Lookout! Night Shift... reissue features quite a few bonus tracks.
