This is an excellent book for elementary aged students. This teaches them to be kind to others (including animals) and to not just think of ourselves on Christmas.
The family pictured in this delightful children's book show their concern for birds and animals on Christmas Eve by preparing popcorn, seed and fruit treats to decorate a tree in the woods. They then enjoy hot chocolate while singing Christmas carols. My grandchildren have enjoyed acting out this story each Christmas Eve for the last 17 years. It's a tradition I believe they'll continue with their own children. The Bunting/Rand team have produced a winning story of family togetherness, with text and illustrations working very well together to create a family classic.
