Desire Casts A Dark Spell. . .
Savanah Gentry's life was so much simpler when she was a reporter for the local newspaper. That was before her father's sudden death drew her into a mysterious new world she was just beginning to understand. A Vampire hunter by birth, Savanah has been entrusted with a legacy that puts everyone she cares for in danger—including the seductive, sensual Vampire who unleashes her most primal desires. . .
Rane Cordova has always been alone, half hating himself for his dark gift even as he relishes its extraordinary power. But one look at Savanah fills him with the need to take everything she has to give and carry her to heights of unimagined ecstasy. And though he never intended their relationship to go this far, now Savanah is in more danger than she knows—and facing a relentless enemy determined to eliminate Rane and all his kind. . .
Journalist Savanah Gentry first met the magician when she was a little girl and her late single dad took her to watch him perform as the Remarkable Renaldo. Sixteen years later he still works the small town circuit but calls himself Santoro the Magnificent. In the Northern California audience he recognizes Savanah who somehow seems to follow his shows. Savanah wants to interview the magician, but though he wants her and has for years, vampire Rane Cordova has avoided his need to taste her blood. This time when she waits for him, he surprises both of them by asking her out.
Humanity has achieved universal peace until Vampires and Weres each believed they should run the earth so they finally went to war to decide who would rule (see NIGHT¿S MASTER). Their fragile ceasefire is teetering as both sides seek the hunter who possesses a special reference book that lists all vampires. Savanah inherited the tome from her late mom, a renowned vampire hunter. Rane keeps her safe even as they fall in love.
This is an exciting paranormal romantic suspense starring star-crossed lovers as he is vampire and she's a slayer. The story line starts off at hyperspeed, get a bit anemic in the middle, but accelerates to the finish. Fans will enjoy this fine urban romantic fantasy as the paranormal species and Amanda Ashley¿s alternate earth seem real.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I loved this book, I have read everything I could get my hands on by Madeline Baker she is an outstanding writer. I just recently started reading her paranormal romances and I am hooked, she is just as amazing writing these as she is writing the westerns.

Wow folks, and again I say wow. Another in a series of knock me over I have died and gone to heaven books. Amanda does not let us down. All I can say, is when is the next one out....Oh and you might want to lay down before you start reading, before you go boneless and slide out of your chair.

I have read others by Amanda Ashley and feel the characters could have a bit more depth. I don't care for whiney or wishy-washy heroines. of course this is just my opinion but Savanah could have been a stronger character.

I feel this book is trying to cash in on the vampire fad inspired by Twilight but it is so poorly written and unbelievable that it falls short of that goal. I believe I wasted my money on this one.
