I loved this book series's plot. I have 3 warnings though 1. It starts out slow, so if you read it, READ THE WHOLE SERIES 2. It is a manga 3. The next part of the series isnt out yet (it seems like its been forever since the fourth book was released) and it is VERY hard to wait for the next book to come out!

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I was very excited when I heard about this manga, because I loved Dramacon, but when I read this I felt a little disappointed. It was good, but nowhere near as good as her previous work. That said, I'm still giving it a 4, because of the excellent artwork. It feels like a series that will get better in one or two volumes.

I loved Dramacon but I was a little hesitant to pick this one up (I didn't want to read something that looked more X-Men-ish than manga/anime-ish). However, I'm glad I finally did pick up the book (only because I love Svetlana's work). What a wonderful read! I am a fan of all that spooky weirdness in books anyway (witches, werewolves, vampires and the like). I love how this pokes fun at the genre of supernatural while staying dramatic and serious enough to make this a real page-turner. I am definitely buying the next volume Nightschool, Vol. 2: The Weirn Books (v. 2).
Kudos to Svetlana for another great OEM (Original English Manga/Original English Language manga), and double-kudos to Yen Press for picking up one of TokyoPop's best OEM artists/story writers after they were all given the axe by TokyoPop.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I have been impressed with Svetlana Chmakova's work since I first read Dramacon several years ago. After Dramacon finished I wondered if she would be like so many of those western manga-style artists, releasing one book or series then never heard from again. I am happy to see she was not and even happier that I stumbled upon Nightschool in my local bookstore.
The drawing in Nightschool is beautifully done in Chmakova's crisp and clean art style while still maintaining a touch of whimsy. This book sets the premise for the story to follow while maintaining the right balance of enough background in this book without leaving the reader clueless or so bogged down with information there is no need for future books. The humor is light and the characters are engaging.
I guess I just want to say that I enjoyed the book and I think you will to, so pick it up and give it a read.

It didnt describe anything! You have to infer what almost everything is about! I don't truly reccomend it but it's good enough to pass- just barely though.

Spooky fun with magical people. A weirn witch loses her sister when she disappears. Trying to find her sister she realizes that no one knows her and many deny her sister's existence. Then she enrolls in night school to figure out what actually happened. There is secondary plot about hunters. It is compelling and well written.
I didn't like Dramacon, but this manga is great. And it looks good on the Nook Tablet.

First this is a collection of several chapters that first was printed in the monthly YEN PLUS magazine. That being said with the book world starting to go to the parinormal series, such as harry potter and twlight. This is a nice and simple story about the magic people and them going to school.
