Overview

Poetry. "Yes, these poems glow with what is most tender in Lorca; but they also strut with what is most wiseass in O'Hara; they brood with what is most earnest in Akhmatova. Dougherty hits the mic hard. Have you seen him read? My favorites in here are the prose poems. This book shows Dougherty moving in the same direction of his last book, with these prose poems like the Choreography of Sixth Street: 'Behind a screen door, chicken and rosmary do their little dance in the ballroom of the kitchen wind.' metaphors! That's what keeps me bringing me back to his work, book after book.
