Very useful book for learning the in's and out's of the Nikon D5000

I have recently started taking up photography as a hobby and of course after I got my Nikon I looked for a book that would show me the ropes of not only the camera itself but also photography in general. This book definitely hit both of those topics right on the head. Not only does it define terms and techniques used in photography but it demonstrates how to implement the techniques on your camera. I highly recommend this book to help aid in discovering all the great features with the camera and how to take your photography to the next level!

    Almost Great

A bit of hand holding for people who have this camera, the Nikon D5000, and who need a book to get them out of the Nikon manual.
It is geared for the new to dslr user, with a good emphasis on portraiture shooting. It's easy to read and not too complicated, my only wish is that it could be more comprehensive to move that new dslr user to be more creative. This could be the book you keep in your bag.
