Previous cameras were an AE-1 and various point and shoot.  First Nikon and first DSLR.  After the very basics, the camera was not intuitive for us, and Nikon's online manual did not help much.  This Dummies book laid things out clearly in words and pictures.  The format of the book also allowed us to hop around to explore different features fo the camera without being locked into a rigid step-by-step process.  I recommend this bookd for anyone who is looking to maximize their use of the D5300.
