Seriously, to the person that said that the album was "not good- not at all," you should probably rethink your ideas of what REAL music is. This band puts their heart and soul into every album, and like the B@N reviewer said, not one band member is holding back. There is soo much raw emotion and their lyrics will make you question how you live for years. I'd have to say that Aenima is the best album they've put out, just because it's the best mixture of experimental sounds and hard rock, without compromising one or the other. And ALSO to the other reviewer, there are 10 FULL song on the album apart from skits and mood music and most of these songs are really long and intricate. I don't see how ten songs is too little for an album that's been put together soooo well. Plus, Tool has carved their own niche in the music industry, without fully being able to be called one genre of music. To anyone with a spiritual mind, or just to people with an open mind, I can't recommend this cd enough!

quite frankly, i detest this album. it is horrible. it is mostly music, there is hardly any singing, and a couple of the "songs" are just sound affects...
personally, i did not like this at all...

This album in itself is what originally got me into Tool. I had gotten my first taste of Tool when their first single Stinkfist aired on the radio. I had heard the song several times, but had never quite caught the name of the group or even the song, and tried so hard to figure it out for quite some time. I finally was listening to the radio one evening and caught the name of the band. I was in 11th grade at the time, and my parents would not allow me to buy the album because it was parental advisory. I was pretty bummed, but I talked to a friend who said he actually had it, so we would hang out at his house and listen to it, and I remember just really being in awe of how excellent they sounded. From then on, I was ever so hooked on Tool's unique sound and style. I moved out of my parent's house in the latter part of 12th grade, and one of the first things I did when I had some money was go and pick up my own copy of Aenima. Although there are a few sketchy things in the album that I am not a huge fan of, there is no denying that this album is sensational, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting something new and unique to listen to that is not too familiar with the band to pick up the CD and listen through it. Quality listening!

I originally got into Tool because of Staind's cover of "sober". I bought Aenima because Stinkfist sounded familiar to me, what I found was an album that was packed with thought provoking lyrics and intense musical arrangements. Tool has a knack for opening your "third eye" and making you see the world around you, if you want an album you can appreciate the first listen through, keep searching, but it what you want is an album which yields its rewards after several listens and ultimately is more rewarding, then you will not find anything better, except maybe another Tool album. The band finds a way to delve into sonic passages and into a world of darkness while still maintaining the listener's attention. Ultimately by albums end the listener may still not fully grasp their music, but nobody really does. An album you can listen to over and over again and it will get better each time.

this cd and tools music changed my life for the better. Tool's Aenima is extremely addicting, but with no bad side affects. this cd showed up on my door step in 96 and was almost thrown away. i listen to stinkfist or "track #1" and thought it was ok. year later blew the dust off the cover and pop this journey into the cd player and thought it was good. later that year i listen to it with headphones in a dark room and WOW... all i can says is that their is so much to this cd that only you can uncover. its a spiritual cleansing, and will leave you breath less when it grabs you by the throat and sucks you into your own mind!

Unless you're an avid fan of Tool, don't get this album without trying it out first. If you're into the type of music they play, then get it.

This album was awesome -- just friggin' AWESOME. At times it messes with your mind, (i.e. Die Eieir Von Satan, really a German recipe with some crowd effects) and other times emotionally affects you, (i.e. just about ever dang track on here) and basically just amazes you... how do bands get this good? The lyrics are consistently dark and murky and generally creepy when you stop to think about them. Tons of innovation in here, everything just seems completely seamless... nothing feels disjointed or out of place. Maynard James Keenan's vocals are just superb... he really conveys the emotions of the song. Definitely at the top of my list, AENIMA by Tool is just about the best dang alt-metal album of it's time.

i cant get enough of this great band, some people are just too ignorant to know the truth about society and what politics and lies have turned this world into, and maynard states just that in this album, as well as every other tool album

Even though i like Tool's other albums allot, this is definitely their best. I like every track. Some songs just rock down while others trip out. 46 and 2 rocks!!!! Awesome album!!!!!!

TOOL thank you for this deep sonic voyage.Aenema & H are my picks,but this whole CD is a masterpiece.I get lost in the journey,Maynard has the most passionate,sensual voice in a male that I have ever heard(aside from Russill Paul)..I am in awe,this CD is a must!

This Tool album is by far the best!! Yes, some songs are 10 min. long but this album ROCKS!! I definetly recommend this album!!

This is, in my opinion the pinnacle of all that is TOOL. Every song has the ability to make you actually FEEL the emotions which are being portrayed. Everything from love to rage to hatred for what we have all done to our poor mother earth. Some say the end is near..........

The guys in Tool are not only musical geniuses, they're artistical as well. I have never heard such soothing and yet, so powerful music in all my life. Not to mention that the album art is fantastic as well. props to you on that one Adam. Personally, I listen to more old school rock like Floyd and Zeppelin than most of the bands that are out there today. But Tool is, was, and always will be my favorite band ever. And if you want a taste of it. Get Aenima first, you'll get hooked. LONG LIVE TOOL!!#@!

This CD is definitely worth picking up, as most of the songs have a great sound to them, and some meaningful lyrics. The first track, Stinkfist and Eulogy are my 2 favorite tracks on the album, with some excellent guitar playing and good vocals. Most of the other songs are great as well, with the exception of Third Eye, as I found the guitar to be somewhat annoying in parts, and the 2 parts where Maynard screams ''Prying open my third eye'' repeatedly are just obnoxious. It is still pretty good, though. The main problem I had that kept me from giving this a 5, like I said about Third Eye, is that while Adam does a nice job of playing the guitar most of the time, it sometimes can be a little grating (example: the intro to Push it.) Another thing, there are a few short ''filler'' tracks on this album (Useful Idiot in particular, Message to Harry Manback, Cesaro Summability, and (-) Ions) but this didn't bother me, so this is just a warning in case you'd be bugged by something like that. All in all, a good buy.

This album means a lot to me personally, as well as many other people simply because of the song writing / lyrical skills of Maynard James Keenan. This was bassist Justin Chancellor's first album with Tool, joining in 1995 after playing for a number of years in his band "Peach". Previous bassist Paul D'amour worked on the songs "Jimmy" and "Push-it", then Justin finished the rest of the songs. (don't quote me on that) Danny Carey and Adam Jones add their unique talents and creative energy into all of the songs, the drums booming and the guitar ringing through out the songs. This album showed fans that Tool was capable of taking their once angry and jagged music to a much more soothing and smooth level. What is next for Tool? We might have to wait another 3 or 4 years to find out.

aenima is one of the best cd's ever. its good from start to finish. tool isnt like anyother band i've heard. my favorite song is hooker with a penis. it rocks. a must buy for any rock fan.

With the exception of Hendrix's work, Zeppelins, and Pink Floyds, Tool has gone down as the best band this generation has had the oppurtunity of listening to, in my opinion. Unfortunately, not everyone takes that oppurtunity. People download Sober and Stinkfist, like them, and then stop. After 2 years, Tool has not become a band, but a way of life for me. Tool's music is magical in the sense that everything is laid out as if it were a movie. If you read the lyrics before listening to a song, which nobody does or cares about, you will find that Tool's music will help you to understand the lyrics better. The music allows you to create ideas about things and make sense of them. It's just amazing how their music works. If you have tried tool, and given them up, you have made the biggest mistake of your life. Tool has certainly changed my life.

tool are on a different level from the rest of the rock bands. They are artists that respect the word ART and dont abuse it!! Music of AENIMA cant be compared to any other band, because no other band has reached this level of excellence..simply amazing, from the drums to bass to guitar and maynards soft yet dark and angry vocals..tool have evolved in to a music machine of truth!! , and above all this great music they add a little bit of bill hicks and his dark humor, this album is simply a masterpeice..i thank them for 70 minutes of mixed feelings and the part they are playing in helping the world realize the lie we are living in and where this lie is generated from, the evil wrath of L.A..i thank them again and ill make sure all people i care for listen to this album, because it can change your life towards the true direction..

I could rave on and on about this album, but I'll cut myself short or my review will be so very long. In short, the best album in the entire world, ever! I'm not just saying this, its true. All this time I've been searching for that one band I could really like, one day I saw Stinkfist on TV. I thought to myself Tool was just another one of those bands and passed them over. Years later, I listen to Aenima and cringe at the fact I missed it when it came out. Such a dynamic soundscape, Danny Carey's spectacular drumming, Maynard James Kenans sad and soaring voice, Justin Chancellor and Adam Jones to back it all up. A dark album, but nonetheless so much more than just that. Tool have seriously restored my faith in music, when Limp Bizkit and Staind (no offense to those that like those bums)surfaced I was worried that half-talented nu-metal was all that was left, Tool changed that. PS, never have I heard such a changing and incredible song as Third Eye, my favourite song in existence, even better than all the other songs, if thats possible
