'Nine Days To Christmas' is about a little school girl named Ceci who gets to have a party and she gets to have a pinata at this party! This title fits the book perfectly because it takes you through Ceci's anticipation of waiting until nine days before Christmas to have her 'posada.' For example, Ceci is walking home with her brother Salvador after their last day of school and she asks him, 'How long will I have to wait?' The very next day she woke up and asked her nanny Maria, 'Is today the day of my posada?' Of course it was not, she was just excited like any child would be. This book shows how a child's imagination can be sparked through something so small such as the pinata in this story. Marie Hall Ets won the Caldecott honor for five books including this one. She also won the Hans Christian Anderson Award in 1956. She began to write children's literature books after an illness came upon her. Ets, Marie Hall. Nine Days To Christmas.
