I have a Nookcolor and the touch navigation of this Bible is easy. The footnotes are numbered and when you touch the number it linked you right to the footnote. Then touch the number from the footnote and it returns you to where you were reading. The SAMPLE of this Bible did not navigate as well, but I decided to buy it anyway. I am so glad I did. The navigation is great.

I'm not sure if the other reviewers are just not familiar with how a typical eBook works, but the navigation seems OK to me. It is a very long book, so one has to take that into consideration when loading it up for the first time. let it load and then it's pretty snappy. Love the NIV!

Who ever did the software for this did not understand ereaders! I am not rateing the bible, just this soft version. Very slow to load, navigate, and use. I love the NIV version, but not this one. It takes 3 minutes to change from one book to another making it impossible to keep up with a study group or church readings. Some times it freezes up or won't turn the page for 30-45 sec. If you just want to read from the beginning to the end one page at a time, it is ok, but forget it for a study bible. I don't know how this got such a high review, wish I had read these ratings before I bought. The american standard version works fine on my reader, but is hard to understand at times.

This fresh version of the NIV is the only translation to use modern linguistic research and Greek/Hebrew lexical analysis in order to provide the most accurate translation that's also the most readable in the English language. Not to mention, unlike other translations, it is translated by a committee that has no ties to the copyright holder (Biblica) or publisher (Zondervan), ensuring an agenda-free translation.
If you've been waiting for a translation that is the optimum combination of accuracy and readability, the wait is over. The new NIV is here.

I just tried to navigate the sample downloaded to my monochrome Nook and I find a couple of areas that either require learning on my part or improvement in the product....my guess is that it could be either!
In the sample, when you're reading a page in the middle of a book/chapter, there's no easy way to figure out exactly WHERE you are currently viewing in the Bible....only a page number which is hardly instructive.
Secondly, and equally important, it's far from intuitive how you navigate to a specific book/chapter and verse, since search in the form of "book-name chapter:verse" always returns "not found".
I'd surely buy it in a heartbeat, but it MUST be usable in real life, not just a nice product on the inventory list.

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I downloaded the sample and based on that the navigation is wanting. The way the books and chapters are listed out is frustrating. For instance if you would like to get to the first chapter in Exodus you have to click through several chapters of Genesis before you can select Ex 1.
The ESV which is currently free for the Nook solves this by listing the Book titles in the Chapter navigation. Once you select the book you want you are taken to the first page of that book and the biblical book's chapters are listed out. Much better.
The ESV is a stronger English version with better navigation and it's free. No brainer.

WOW! This is an AMAZING Bible eBook! The "free sample" is a poor representation of this nookbook because it only takes the first 10 percent of the eBook (which is just all the links to the different chapters of the Bible, not the actual Bible text). Seriously, purchase the entire product! The footnote linking is awesome and SO easy to use! On the nook Color, this Bible looks great! Wonderful translation, great numbered footnote linking, an overal great product. HIGHLY recomended!

I should have read the reviews before I bought this book. I'm also having problems navigating the book. It will not navigate except to turn one page at a time from front to back. It also still says sample on the cover. What a wast of $9.99.

I just downloaded this Bible and have had nothing but problems with it. It shuts down unexpectedly, the table of contects feature on you device will not load the table of contects, you have to bookmake the book's table of content and use that to navigate, some of the chapters in the table of contects open and some do not, do not even try to bookmake any books in this Bible past Genesis because not only will it not bookmark, it will freeze up and you have to shut the book down and restart it again. And you cannot get a refund?? Please save you $9.99 and download another Bible than this one

Find a NIV version that has not been altered by the PC police. Have we really come to this? Pathetic.

THE BEST WAY to get the bible on your nook is to get the Tercata (or sommething like that) app. The KJV is free right now. If you buy it, you can get every version imaginable over wifi. It is extremely user friendly for skipping around during sermons.

Dissapointed with the navigation like everyone else, but it's an eBook, not an app; read it like a book. I am too used to using the bible on my phone that I didn't like it at first. However, I warmed up to it. The Lord is good even if the navigation isn't.

Easy to use, sometimes a little slow but not overly so.

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I cannot open it and when I do it freezes my NOOK! It is difficult to navigate and definitely NOT WORTH the steep price! I bought "The Bible" by KING JAMES VERSION (link at bottom) afterwards and it works much better: its cheaper (99 cents), easy to navigate, and doesn't freeze the NOOK or disappear randomly.

I didn't pick this version out, my mother did, but it is very disappointing.
First of all, you have to wait a minute or two for it to load, which can be very aggervating, especially when you are first figuring out how to use it.
The contents system was not very well thought out either. When I first got this, the entire content was all one thing. Thankfully it's not like that anymore. My sister use to have a Nook Bible where you could select the verse and chapter and book instead of just chapter. Much better system if you ask me.
Plus some of the verses are different than they are in my printed NIV Bible. There's more subtitles and the wording is different on this one. It could just be a slightly different translation or something, but if anyone ever gets a hold of the publisher, it says in Revelation that changing the Bible in any way shape or form is a sin and will be taken into account on Judgement Day.
