Alex Bateman is a born and bred Londoner whose interest in the wartime No 617 Sqn and Bomber Command began as a child. Since his early teens he has been researching the men and aircraft of Bomber Command, and has written numerous articles and contributed to television programmes, museum displays and other books. This is his first title for Osprey.

    Men Who Breached the Dams

    No 617 Dambusters Squadron

    For fans of the Osprey titles, and the exploits of 617 Sqadron of the RAF, this is a must have. Like all Osprey titles it is presented in a very readable format with lots of interesting and rare pictures and drawings. It begins with an in depth review of the Dams Raids for which it was formed and follows with the story of the missions flown for the remainder of the war. If you have read Brickill's 'The Dambusters' from the 50s, you will enjoy the plethora of pictures of the main characters that were not in that book. It also has more information that was not available at that time. Modelers will like the full color plates in the middle of the book for reference. I highly recommend it for the interested reader.
